    About the Role

    As a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of a wide range of heavy machineryup to 80 equipment lines and attachments. Your work ensures our customers' equipment runs safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime.

    Key Responsibilities

    Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

    Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and safety checks

    Communicate repair needs, parts lists, and time estimates to the service manager

    Maintain accurate 3C documentation (Complaint, Cause, Correction)

    Keep your workspace clean and organized following 5S and OSHA safety standards

    Assist teammates and customers with honesty, respect, and professionalism

    Participate in ongoing training and skill development

    Qualifications

    Education: High school diploma or GED required

    2-year degree in Diesel, Ag, Automotive, or Heavy Equipment Technology preferred

    Experience: 25 years of experience in heavy equipment repair or maintenance preferred

    Skilled in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

    Welding and torch experience a plus

    Basic tool set and storage required

    Must be dependable, motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team

    Physical Requirements

    Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs (occasionally over 100 lbs with assistance)

    Stand, kneel, climb, and work on heavy equipment daily

    Use power tools and perform hands-on repairs for extended periods

    Ability to see details clearly and maintain focus in a busy shop environment

    Position Summary

    As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment directly at customer sites. This includes mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting, accurate documentation, and consistent communication with team members and customers to ensure timely and high-quality service.

    Key Responsibilities

    Equipment Diagnostics & Repair

    Diagnose and repair heavy equipment issues in the field

    Recreate customer complaints and recommend additional repairs

    Perform inspections and communicate needed parts and materials

    Complete repairs safely and efficiently within quoted time

    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

    Work Order Documentation (3C: Complaint, Cause, Correction)

    Enter accurate notes and time entries into electronic work order software

    Ensure all records are legible and cost items are documented

    Follow company procedures for daily documentation and reporting

    Customer Communication & Inspections

    Communicate clearly with customers about equipment status and repairs

    Conduct thorough equipment inspections and identify additional service needs

    Support the service team in quoting and planning repair work

    Safety, Tools, and Vehicle Maintenance

    Adhere to OSHA safety standards and complete OSHA 10 training

    Maintain and return tools and equipment in clean, working condition

    Perform daily pre-trip and monthly vehicle inspections

    Schedule and perform regular vehicle maintenance

    Operate field vehicle in compliance with DOT regulations

    Position Overview

    The Machine Control Specialist plays a key role in supporting customers before and after the sale. You'll be the go-to expert for machine control technology responsible for training, technical setup, troubleshooting, and ensuring customers get the most out of their precision equipment.

    You'll collaborate with OEM partners, work hands-on with construction equipment, and travel throughout the Southeastern Territory to deliver training and support to customers on-site.

    What You'll Do

    Technical Expertise & Support

    Serve as the subject matter expert for all machine control solutions.

    Configure, install, and train on precision equipment and related technology.

    Stay current on the latest 2D/3D technologies and industry trends.

    Report technical feedback to management and manufacturing partners.

    Customer Engagement

    Training & Demonstrations

    What We're Looking For

    1+ years of experience in the heavy equipment industry, site control, site layout, takeoffs, grade checking, or machine control.

    Strong presentation and communication skills confident in front of groups.

    Creative problem-solving abilities and a strong mechanical/technical aptitude.

    A motivated self-starter who takes initiative and thrives independently.

    Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time.

    Physical Requirements

    Frequent walking, climbing, kneeling, and working on heavy construction equipment.

    Regular lifting up to 10 lbs and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.

    Ability to work outdoors and stand for long periods.

    Must have strong visual acuity and physical dexterity for inspections and hands-on work.
