5HV – Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU)
The Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit is located on the 5thfloor of the Heart and Vascular Hospital. The staff in CSICU, a 10 bed unit, provides care for critically ill patients requiring postoperative recovery of cardiothoracic, vascular surgery, ECMO and/or intensive care interventions. The age of patients in the unit varies from the young adult to the geriatric population.

Summary:
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
1. Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Summary:

5. Provides direct personal care to patients as outlined in plan of care activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, assisting with ambulation. Measures and records vital signs, and patient height and weight. May be responsible for specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range of motion exercises, and/or postural drainage.

3. Contrast- Administers oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establishes intravenous lines, administers IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, follows correct procedure to determine contrast eligibility, checks appropriate lab values before contrast injection per protocol.
4. Image Transfer- Maintains thorough understanding of PACS, and transmits images to QC, UNCH’s EMR, EPIC and PACS, verifies and segments images at the QC station, accesses IMPAX service tools to verify images transmission, completes, modifies and/or cancels orders in an appropriate and timely manner, cancels duplicate orders to avoid duplicate billing. Insures that all charge information is accurate. Verifies patient identification in accordance with UNC policy, insures that all appropriate demographic information is accurate and on the PACS images.
5. Other Duties- Performs task in a timely manner, runs the schedule creating a consistent workflow, volunteers to work on challenging tasks, difficult procedures and new research, produces quality diagnostic images, reviews patient's chart and reports for correlation, maintains a clean and orderly work environment, creates and keeps documentation of incidents as improvement opportunities for employees and the department. Is competent in the operation of the MRI scanners, proficient in automatic injections of MRI contrast, disc drives, gateways, PACS and laser printers. Maintains active status with ARRT or ARMRIT by accruing CE’s when needed. Interprets protocols and selects appropriate scanning parameters, shares knowledge with fellow MRI technologists and uses technical knowledge to assist in actively trouble shooting problems with respect to equipment and protocols
3. Summary:
The Surgical Technologist II works under the supervision of a surgeon and
registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive
surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that

under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess
expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and

The Children's Emergency Response RN role utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) to coordinate, delegate and provide safe therapeutic nursing care to pediatric patients throughout the Children’s Hospital. UNC Health is currently seeking a Board Eligible/Certified Pediatric Cardiologist to join our multi-specialty practice in Wilmington, NC. The successful candidate will live and work primarily in Wilmington, NC, to join our team to provide pediatric and fetal care in communities throughout southeastern NC in partnership with Novant Health - New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH-NHRMC). This facility houses a community-based, multispecialty practice and a children's hospital that includes a 45-bed Level III NICU, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and inpatient unit. The physician will also be expected to develop and perform clinical activities in surrounding outreach locations in Southeastern NC.
As a top-tier academic medical center, UNC Children's upholds a four-tiered mission to "CARE," aligning clinical care, advocacy, research, and education to deliver world-class family-centered care. Novant Health and UNC Health formed a partnership in early 2021 to broaden and enhance pediatric care in Southeast NC and expand medical education at the Wilmington branch campus of the School of Medicine. Through this collaboration, NH-NHRMC will become the tertiary care referral hospital for children in Coastal and Southeastern NC.
The successful candidate will ideally have excellent outpatient pediatric cardiology skills with preferred fetal echocardiography expertise. This is a full-time position, with focus on outpatient care, but also includes some inpatient consultation services. The candidate must be board-certified / eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of and build a community-based practice in Pediatric Cardiology while being part of an academic group and holding a UNC School of Medicine faculty appointment.
