Overview
An Estimator will be responsible for calculating the cost of electrical construction by reviewing and evaluating available documents and developing accurate, competitive, and profitable bid proposals for a variety of national electrical projects.
Responsibilities
Review and evaluate project plans and specifications, bid documents, and other relevant project documents to identify what is needed for a project and to create a bid proposal.Calculate the cost of electrical construction based on reviewing and evaluating available documents.Analyze project for value engineering options while taking into account specific job conditions that may affect labor and material to be purchased and installed.Identify any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the bid documents.Identify strategies to create bid advantages.Anticipate potential problems and devise solutions proactively.Prepare “RFI” questions.Request material and equipment quotes from vendors and equipment suppliers.Reviews quotes to confirm adherence to quote requests and accuracy of quotes received.Develops and maintains a positive relationship with vendors.Prepares bid documents including specific scope letter for each project, “Blue Sheets” and “Evaluations” with adjustments for buy-outs, labor rate, productivity, etc.Assist in preparing budget pricing.Attend estimating/sales meetings, and project meetings to discuss bid status, and present/resolve issues.May perform job walks to ensure that any field conditions have been observed that may affect the construction, may impact the prospective bid, and/or may impact the pre-construction designs and the build services.Keeps Company management, project management, clients, general contractors, and all others involved in projects current on bid progress.Manages preconstruction activities during the design phase on design-build & design-assist projects.Assists on turnover meetings to operations team upon award of a project.Assist in project pursuits and interviews as needed.Qualifications
5+ years of electrical estimating experience for commercial and industrial projects.Accustomed to estimating for projects valued at $5 million and above.Advanced skills with MS Office.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Experience utilizing Accubid and Accubid LiveCount is preferred. The Project Manager is responsible to plan, direct, and coordinate construction operations, purchases, financial reporting and project controls activities for an assigned portfolio of concurrent electrical projects. The Project Manager is heavily involved in all aspects of project execution from participation in proposals and procurement, contract negotiations, and managing all aspects of project operations and financial performance. Ensures work is performed within a pre-scheduled budget and manages project performance to meet or exceed prescribed goals. Provides direction on individual staff development. Collaborates with other Project Managers and Supervisory staff to allocate staff and resources to meet objectives, investigate, and implement ways to improve the efficiency and profitability of all projects.

This includes development of purchasing / buyout goals, development/execution of product data submittal/shop drawings for approval, management of material releases for timely delivery to projects and mitigation of supply chain issues. Manages project profitability for each project in his/her portfolio of work. This includes predictive analysis and revenue, cost and profit forecasting. Evaluates construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans and actual work. Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.Develops and implements quality control programs on projects.Regularly visits projects to assess performance, progress and quality and to ensure connectivity with the field and clients.Produces a schedule of values or similar method for all projects to ensure positive cashflow on projects. Executes and manages all billing for all assigned projects. Ensures that all safety and environmental policies of the Company and project owners are followed by all project personnel Prepares budgets for construction activities, oversee progress, and cost reports. Experience managing large Commercial, Institutional and/or Federal preferred. Working knowledge of the NEC and be fluent in estimating processes. Have thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, materials, means, & methods, etc.) as well as an understanding of Company and industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities. Ability to understand, manage, and abide by contracts and subcontracts. Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environment.Facilitate, negotiate, and execute buyouts of major purchase orders and subcontracts. Ability to oversee and effectively manage low voltage work and subcontractors. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
