    The staffing pool provides RN staffing coverage to our med/surg, neuro/ortho/peds, rehab, and cardiac units. Staffing pool nurses are exceptional nurses who easily adapt to change and can accommodate many different working environments. After one year working in the staffing pool, nurses can train to specialty units such as ICU and the ED. Staffing pool is extremely rewarding and offers a multitude of learning opportunities to enhance nursing skills and critical thinking. One year nursing experience preferred.

    How you will contribute

    A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

    Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

    Documents patient care given.

    Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

    Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

    Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

    Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

    Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

    Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

    Documents patient care given.

    Work closely with providers to ensure patients meet observation criteria. Monitor patients for a period of 24-48 hours to assess their condition and determine if they need to be admitted as an inpatient or discharged.

    Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

    Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

    Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

    Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

    Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

    54 bed acute Medical and Surgical unit (3 wings with 18 beds each). We have good support from care aides to assist in patient care. Wide variety of patient conditions and interventions to hone skills and grow professionally. It's a fast-paced unit with admissions and discharges always happening throughout the shift.

    Essential Functions

    Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.

    Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.

    Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.

    Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.

    Performs on call services as requested.

    Actively participates and ensures room turnovers are efficient and timely.

    Restocking the department labor and postpartum rooms

    Clinical equipment checks

    Checking outdates on supplies

    Assisting at vaginal deliveries if surgical lacerations or repairs are needed

    Assist in opening the OR in an emergency

    Cleaning out the OR - trash, instruments

    Vaginal instrument cleaning and getting ready for sterile processing

    Skills/Experience

    Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
