Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. The oldest historically Black college for women in the United States, Spelman is a member of the Atlanta University Center Consortium and Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education.Position Description:The Department of Biology seeks outstanding lecturers dedicated to excellence in the biological sciences for a 1-year lecturer position. The department has a strong, proven reputation for educating and training women of African descent to excel in STEM fields. The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in biology or a related area and be able to teach 16 credit hours of courses at the undergraduate level in the traditional sub-disciplinary areas of biology, preferably Organismal Biology. All courses are taught in-person.

    The position also requires contributing effectively to curriculum development efforts, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department and College. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to working with women and underrepresented minority students through teaching, mentoring, and research are especially encouraged to apply.

    This position is contingent upon the availability of sufficient funding.
