    We are searching for a Director of Construction who is a skilled people manager responsible for quality control, scheduling and coordination of construction activities and job-site safety for all construction projects for a commercial general contracting firm.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Works directly with each project team which includes project executives, project managers and superintendents, subcontractors, and other construction personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule and on budget.
    Provides interpretation of drawings, recommendation of construction methods and equipment as required including site work, structural trades, finish trades, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection trades.
    Supervises the preparation of detailed two week look ahead schedules, ensuring completion on or ahead of scheduled dates.
    Inspects contractor or subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with contract.
    Develops quality assurance controls and conducts quality inspections.
    Maintains a good relationship with internal and external clients, including representatives of owner, architectural and engineering firms.
    Monitors internal labor time and material costs.
    Communicates and enforces the Safety and Health Management Program.
    Demonstrates commitment to an injury free environment through actions and mentoring.
    Supervises and works directly with project superintendents on a daily basis.
    Monitors and ensures that project superintendents are submitting accurate daily reports documenting weather and field conditions, trade and subcontractor manpower, and other conditions impacting the project schedule.
    Supervisory Responsibilities

    The Director of Construction is responsible for the daily supervision and coordination efforts of the superintendents and field labor force.

    Extensive understanding of commercial general contracting.
    Familiarity with the terms and conditions of project contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders including drawings and specifications.
    Strong self-starter with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills within cross functional teams.
    Skilled at handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a reputation for being accurate, responsive, and well organized.

    Position Description


    To plan and execute successful construction project outcomes for assigned projects and clients. Examples of successful outcomes are timely buyout, timely construction milestones and completion, timely change order management, timely close-out, satisfied clients that want to work with Korsmo on their next project, and profitable work.


    • Develop and manage schedules and budgets for each assigned project

    • Lead project internal team meetings, subcontractor meetings, OAC meetings, project kick-off meetings, and pre-install meetings

    • Participate in preconstruction activities including estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews

    • Originate and track essential construction documents and protect the company’s risk

    • Lead monthly project reviews and recommend solutions for challenges and issues

    • Negotiate and manage subcontractor agreements for accuracy and compliance

    • Interact and manage positive client relationships and design partner relationships

    • Manage labor tracking of self-performed work, report to the team and change work strategy if needed

    Review the Client Company’s Plans and Specifications for construction prior to the start of construction and report potential construction issues.

    Provide construction site coordination for station or line transmission construction to provide compliance with Federal, State, Local, and Company standards, programs, drawings, and specifications.
    Generate standard and ad-hoc progress reports on the construction phase as necessary or requested by the client.

    Revise field drawings to agree with as-built installations

    Provide quality performance feedback on contractors, materials, and equipment.

    Material Management Duties as they relate to the transmission construction coordination, inspection, receipt, and delivery of material and equipment to the construction site.
    Inspect and check the receipt of materials for construction projects for shortages, timeliness, damages, and correctness. Prepare reports for appropriate corrective actions and coordinate delivery of materials with other construction management groups.

    Coordinate required outages with the responsible operation center and arrange for or accept clearances as required.

    Maintain construction oversight for OSHA compliance requirements in accordance with the company’s construction compliance oversight program.

    Provide estimates to allow authorization of station or line transmission construction work by contract forces, including verification of work performed.

    Work with project management/lead as well as others within and outside the client’s company to contribute to the successful completion of the project.

    Abilities or Requirements

    The Construction Manager II is responsible for the training, project assignment and project performance of the Field Manager staff in a given region. This will include making field inspections to verify that the schedule, quality, scope, site safety and all reporting is accurate and in line with what is being published to the project team.

    Requisite to becoming CM II is having served as an FMIII for a minimum of 2 years and/or demonstrating all of the skill and leadership abilities for the FM III Position. A person must be endorsed by a PM III or Market Manager.

    Proficient at production of fiber diagrams, rack elevations, RF plumbing diagrams, block diagrams, and link budgets
