    The Public Health Registered Nurse concentrates on the care of individual TB patients and the broader impact of TB on individuals, families, and communities. The TB Nurse Case Manager participates in direct and indirect interventions to treat TB disease and reduce transmission within the community. TB-related duties are carried out using a case management framework that integrates assessment and analytical skills, program planning, education and communication, cultural humility, community engagement, public health science competencies, and leadership.

    Essential Functions:

    Administers general nursing care to patients in an assigned area including but not limited to hospitals, clinics, mobile units, program events and homes;Administers medications, including but not limited to reproductive/sexual health treatments, STI/HIV treatments, and vaccinations/immunizations following physician or nurse practitioner orders or standing order;Observes, records and reports patients' reactions, responses, and general condition;Conducts utilization reviews and/or clinical quality assurance/improvement and prepares related reports;Confers with physicians, managers, or department heads regarding Quality Assurance/Utilization Management (QA/UM) problems and recommends alternative solutions;Ensures the competency of proper standards of nursing per division and department policies, procedures and standing orders;Acts as a preceptor and teaches nursing practices and orients new personnel;Assumes responsibilities for all clinical activities within nursing scope of practice if needed, including phlebotomy and laboratory procedures;Participates in programs to community health, such as outreach programs, child health conferences, school health programs, group instructions for parents/guardians, clinical services programs, home care services, etc.;Participates in emergency preparedness exercises and core members of the clinical response team;Plans for and participates in field research related to public health nursing.
    Minimum Qualifications:

    Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's degree and a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Arizona. An active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) is acceptable, as well.

    Licenses and Certificates: Possession of either a current Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) or a license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Arizona. Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services' review and approval of the candidate's driving record.

    Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. May occasionally sit on the floor or crouch if working in a home care environment.

    Working Conditions: The Public Health Registered Nurse operates within a clinic, office and/or community setting, providing direct patient care, education, and other administrative duties. Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position, however, is eligible for alternative work schedules if deemed appropriate by the division leadership and program/clinic scheduling needs.

Must be able to occasionally reach above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck. * (Other) Must be able to install and remove tire chains when required due to inclement weather. * Must be able to use right, left or both hands to get in and out of truck, wrapping and unwrapping shrink wrap, securing and unsecuring pallets, using pallet jack or hand truck, using the steering wheel, buttons on lift gates, etc. * Must be able to grip with right, left or both hands to use handles to get in and out of the truck, holding tablet, using pallet jacks or hand trucks, holding the steering wheel, securing straps, cardboard, airbags, etc. * Must be able to pinch fingers on the right, left or both hands to shrink wrap, secure and unsecure straps, utilize clip boards, utilize tablets, etc. * Must be able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower and raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel release lever, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and out of vehicles, fuel vehicles and check engine oil and coolant levels. * Must be able to use cognitive skills for: * paying attention to surroundings, including traffic, truck inspections, freight, gates, etc. * long-term and short-term memory for inspecting areas, breaking down pallets, carrying products, driving in traffic and for safety * logic and reasoning in reading manifests, tablets, navigation, road signs, reading boxes and order numbers * Auditory and visual processing to inspect trucks, driving, reading, listening for horns and/or other traffic and speaking with customers * Must be able to shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals. * Must satisfactorily pass any physical testing requirements which is consistent with the job requirements discussed above. * Must be able to read, write and speak English. * Attendance is a requirement.
