    Role Overview

    The University of Vermont's Department of Chemistry in The College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting in the fall semester of 2026. We seek a creative chemist with expertise in Organic Chemistry to undertake an outstanding program of research leading to peer-reviewed scholarly publications and extramural funding for that research. The ideal candidate will develop an internationally recognized research program in organic chemistry, with a preference for synthetic/medicinal chemistry. Applicants will be expected to teach, advise, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. A Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience in chemistry or a related field are expected.

    Our department has an active Ph.D. program and research faculty engaged in a range of interdisciplinary activities. In addition to the Chemistry Ph.D. program, department faculty draw graduate students from interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs in: Cellular, Molecular and Biomedical Sciences; Materials Science; Neuroscience; and Physics.
