    JOB SUMMARY

    The Warehouse Manager of Gulf Distributing Company of Alabama is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the warehouse. Manages and works with all departments including receiving, replenishment, inventory, and load crew.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Supervise all Warehouse employees to ensure they are performing their assigned duties in an efficient manner.Require that all steps are followed to prevent the loss of product through pilferage, damage, or aging.Ensure all warehouse employees abide by company policies and procedures.Ensure all warehouse employees pay close attention to the code beer dates and the delivery trucks are loaded with the oldest product first.Check and prevent any discrepancies in daily inventory.Require every Delivery Driver to be counted out correctly and leave with the proper product.Ensure every Delivery Driver is checked-in immediately upon his return to the warehouse; this includes the counting of all returned products, empties, pallets, and carts.Check-in swaps, damage, breakage, and returns.Ensure all reworked product to brewery standards and is returned to stock prior to the start of the truck loading process.Require a count of the actual cases of product received against the quantity on the bill of lading.Rotate product within the warehouse to make sure the oldest product is loaded for delivery first.Forward to the office in a timely manner all paperwork that pertains to incoming product.Record on the bill of lading(s) the code dates for all products that are received.Have all rows tagged with the proper code date information.Make sure all delivery trucks are swept out and clean and there is no damage to equipment.Ensure warehouse, grounds and keg/pallet yards are kept clean.Supervise unloading and loading of common carriers.Supervise loading of bulk trucks and transport to other companies.Investigate and report all accidents occurring during shift.Ensure all cooperage, empties, and pallets are returned to the breweries and the paperwork is completed in a correct and timely manner.Work closely with Operations Manager and Human Resources Manager regarding payroll and labor laws.Maintain open and clear communications with the owners, managers, and other employees of the company.Maintain open and clear communications with vendors and retailers that conduct business with the company.Dress and maintain your personal appearance in a professional manner and according to company policy.Conduct all your activities within the guidelines of all company policies and procedures.Conduct all your activities in accordance with the local, state, and federal liquor control regulations.Perform all work activities in accordance with safe work practices, policies, and procedures.Adapt to any new responsibilities required by the Operations Manager.Maintain certification for training of warehouse personnel on forklift certification.Maintain building and premises to OSHA standards.Attend meetings as requested by Operations Manager or General Manager.Willingly completes other duties as assigned to meet the strategic and operational and financial objectives of GDH.

    Supervision

    Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management-level staff in the department.Oversees the daily workflow of the department.Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.Manages discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.Uses strengths-based supervision so each person supervised comes to know his/her own strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day-to-day work.Ensures that each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.Provides clear expectations for each supervised staff.Models’ adherence to GDH’s Values and holds staff accountable for knowing and practicing the values.Completes coaching regularly of supervised staff and annual a performance evaluation on due date.Provides direct supervision to the Delivery Managers, and other operations staff as assigned.

    Technology

    Effectively uses office equipment (copiers, fax machines, scanners), a personal computer and Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer.Efficiently uses operations management software, including VIP.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry-related field required. Industry related Experience can substitute for degree.At least 10 -years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required.Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software. Prior use of VIP or similar software package.Highly organized, detail oriented.Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in your state of residence and auto insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen.Demonstrated ability toWork effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community.Work effectively as a member of the leadership team.Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media.Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.Effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

    WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Frequently (50%+ of time) required to walk and talk or hear.Occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel object, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.Frequently (50%+ of time) lift and/or move up to 20 to 50 pounds.Frequently (50%+ of time) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.Occasionally (less than 25% of time) exposed to moving mechanical equipment and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.Frequently (more than 50% of time) travel throughout the GDH sites.Occasional (less than 25% of time) weekend and/or overtime work, primarily at start-up or when taking on new business.

    This position will be part-time/temporary with a flexible schedule. Individuals will choose which shifts they want to work prior to the work week. Available shifts include but are not limited to:

    Monday-Friday: 12 PM - 5 PM

    5 PM - 10 PM

    Reports to: Warehouse Manager

    Position Objective:

    The Warehouse Order Pullers are responsible for efficient, safe and accurate loading of the delivery trucks and performing the assigned warehouse maintenance tasks.

    Description of Physical Tasks:

    Keep all warehouse load areas and grounds clean. Place product on hand truck or dolly (approximately 20 to 50 lbs per case). Fills racks, pushes/pulls pallets and loads appropriate company products. Climbing on and off forklifts.

    Responsibilities Include

    Must report to work on time and clock in and out properly.Prior to starting the loading process, review the total quantity to be pulled and the truck it is to go on. Discuss any space concerns with the Load Crew Manager.Build loads for each order in the most efficient manner.Pull and load the exact amounts given through the voice picking system or system generated pick sheets.Ensure loads are done accurately and neatly.Be aware of code dates and load the oldest product first.Visually inspect all cases loaded to ensure they are in saleable condition.Load all carts/pallets onto appropriate route truck.Load the product on each truck properly to prevent damage.Clean all areas before leaving at the end of your shift, keeping work area clean.Clear the pick area of debris and stretch wrap at the end of the truck loading process each night.Prior to the end of your shift each night ensure all empty pallets are removed from the pick area and properly stored.Report any accidents to manager on duty immediately.Maintain open and clear communications with the owners, managers, and other employees of the company.Obtain from the Warehouse Manager approval prior to working in excess of your regular schedule.Dress in uniform and maintain your personal appearance in a professional manner and according to company policy.Conduct all your activities within the guidelines of all company policies and procedures.Conduct all of your activities in accordance to the local, state and federal liquor control regulations.Perform all work activities in accordance to the safe work practices, policies and procedures.Adhere to all established inventory control procedures and practices.Adapt to any new responsibilities required by the Warehouse Manager and Load Crew Manager.All other duties as assigned.
