    Production Planner

    - Baltimore

Zentech is one of the leading and most highly certified U.S. based Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers in North America. We support original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of medical devices, aerospace and defense products, and industrial equipment with engineering & manufacturing solutions. These solutions include product design, printed circuit board layout, test development, and manufacturing support through the whole product lifecycle.

    Job Summary

Production planners determine and set daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing schedules. This role requires superior organization and planning skills, since Production planners examine customer orders, available staff and inventory, and machinery capabilities to effectively set and manage production schedules, often for multiple lines at once.

In addition, Production planners monitor manufacturing performance and actively adjust schedules in response to equipment failures or supply shortages. They also identify opportunities to make processes more efficient and cut down on production costs through more effective scheduling.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • The primary responsibility of the production planner is determining daily, weekly, or monthly production activities based on a variety of factors. While developing a schedule, the production planner may examine work orders or customer requests, expected delivery dates, plant personnel and equipment capabilities, and inventory availability. The production scheduler then balances these elements to create an actionable and efficient production schedule.

    • Product releases when the kit is complete, run through the production process, and shipped. The production planner will communicate any issues that would prevent an order from shipping.

    • Run 12-week production planning meetings with the Buyers and Program Managers to keep clean the 8-week production window. The production planner prevents orders that cannot process through production from getting into that window.

    • Keep Program Managers, Production and Customers updated on the expectations and the commitments that we have made.

    • The production planner identifies opportunities to improve the manufacturing or production process through more effective schedule management

    • The Production Planner works closely with the Production Supervisor to fine tune schedules based upon changing resources, equipment down time and customer needs to minimize disruptions

    • Order Entry and Demand management.

    • Participate in Production meetings to understand the status of orders in process and communicate issues and updates back to other department team members

    • Initiative to enhance methods and tools to aide in the scheduling process, communicating with various production team members regarding the schedule and priorities.

    • Coordinate with Quality Control, Production Team Members, Management staff and others as needed

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Requires diligence, strong organizational skills, working with multiple departments, ability to manage stressful, demanding situations/people.

    • Previous production scheduling and use of various planning tools and software is a plus.

    • Proficient in the use of Window Office Suite with strength in the use of Excel.

    • Familiar with production routing, labor, and equipment scheduling.

    • Ability to walk and or stand for multiple hours of the day.
