    Description ) DHS Mid-Level Network Engineer with Data Center Experience (Washington, DC Area, Northern VA) Position Summary Softek International, on behalf of the DHS Homeland Security Enterprise Network (HSEN) Engineering Support Services Contract, is seeking a Network Engineer (with prior data center experience) to support ongoing WAN engineering and operations, to include on-site data center activities at the DHS facility based in Ashburn, VA. This candidate should be able to support a variety of network technologies to include, but not limited to, Cisco routing/switching, F5 GTM/LTM load-balancing, Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco SD-WAN powered by Viptela. Duties / Responsibilities
    Provide on-site data center support at the DHS Ashburn facility on an as-needed basis , to include cable management, racking, consoling into devices for troubleshooting, etc.
    Develop WAN network solutions to meet requirements, while complying with the DHS network architecture and design standards. Perform "as is" analyzes of existing network technologies, make recommendations of changes as needed to optimize performance and improve network performance. Produce DHS systems engineering project artifacts such as requirements, design documents, diagrams, and other required documentation. Responsible for troubleshooting network incidents, providing root cause analysis and documenting information in ticketing system (ServiceNow) and knowledge repositories (MS SharePoint).
    Willing to work nights for network Change Request (CR) implementations and be a part of the on-call rotation for any network incidents that may be escalated from the Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) for nights, weekends, and holidays. Establish effective working relationships with industry vendors to ensure alignment of current and future set requirements. Minimum Qualifications / Requirements

    3+ years working in a WAN environment, strong experience in incident and operations management.

In addition to VMWare, RHEL, and Linux, this candidate should be able to support or have an awareness of a variety of network technologies to include, but not limited to, Cisco routing/switching, F5 GTM/LTM load-balancing, Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco SD-WAN, and Nutanix. The ideal candidate will be able to support solution designs and implementations, technology refresh projects, cloud integrations and migration projects, and tier 3 and 4 level incident management troubleshooting. Duties / Responsibilities
    Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure using VMware technologies, including vSphere, NSX, and vSAN.
    Perform regular maintenance and upgrades of VMware environments to ensure optimal performance and security.
    Troubleshoot and resolve network and virtualization issues, providing technical support to end-users and other IT staff.
    Monitor network performance and security, implementing necessary changes to improve efficiency and protect against threats.
    Collaborate with other IT professionals to integrate VMware solutions with existing systems and applications.
    Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, procedures, and policies.
    Plan and execute network and virtualization projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.
    Responsible for troubleshooting network incidents, providing root cause analysis and documenting information in ticketing system (ServiceNow) and knowledge repositories (MS SharePoint).
    Willing to work nights for network Change Request (CR) implementations and be a part of the on-call rotation for any network incidents that may be escalated from the Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) for nights, weekends, and holidays. Establish effective working relationships with industry vendors to ensure alignment of current and future set requirements. Minimum Qualifications / Requirements
    At least 4 years of experience with VMWare / Red Hat / Linux technologies Strong knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, GRE, IPSEC, and VRF)
    Experience creating/writing design documentation, diagrams and other project artifact deliverables.
    Must be resourceful in learning a very complex and dynamically changing network.
    Must live in the national capital area (DC, NOVA, MD) within 50 miles approximately. Education BA / BS (relevant field); relevant IT experience may be a substitute for education. Certifications Required N/A Certifications Desired
