AutoCAD Technician

Phenix Truck & Van is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AutoCAD Technician to join our design and engineering team. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about computer-aided design (CAD) and interested in innovative vehicle upfitting, work truck solutions, and automotive electrical systems.
Position Overview
The AutoCAD Technician is responsible for converting redlines into accurate electrical schematics and producing production-ready drawings for manufacturing. This role collaborates closely with production teams to ensure the timely and precise execution of custom vehicle upfit projects.
Key Responsibilities
Create and update 2D drawings, diagrams and schematics using AutoCAD LT.Generate complete drawing packages and BOMs for production release.Interpret redlines and translate engineering input into accurate design drawing outputs.Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and shop personnel to ensure drawing accuracy and manufacturability.Review the final as-built vehicle to verify the accuracy of design and diagrams, and update and document as needed.Support multiple concurrent projects while adhering to deadlines and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in CAD Drafting, CAD Technology, or equivalent technical fieldwork experience.3+ years of professional experience drafting using AutoCAD / AutoCAD LT.
Required Skills
Proficient in 2D drafting with AutoCAD LT.Strong understanding of engineering drawings, symbols, and standards.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact across departments.Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to work independently.Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Ability to work under vehicles and in a manufacturing setting when needed.
Software Proficiency
AutoCAD LTMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)Adobe Acrobat
Work Environment
Approx. 70% of the time in an office setting, using CAD software and documentation tools.Approx. 30% on the manufacturing floor or under vehicles, supporting hands-on validation and clarification.

You will strive to provide safe electrical systems for a variety of customers in a growing truck equipment and manufacturing facility.
This position is responsible for installing electrical lighting and equipment, programming systems and components, troubleshooting possible component and electrical issues, and ensuring work is completed safely, accurately in compliance with Phenix electrical department and OSHA standards. Team members are expected to follow company drawings and prints, maintain tools and equipment, perform safety and quality checks, and collaborate effectively to complete projects on time.
