    Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Quality Workplace Coach (level 4) to join the 737 Quality Workplace Coaches team located in Seattle or Renton, Washington. This position is for either 1st or 2nd Shift and will be determined after the interview.  

    We are looking for an outgoing and knowledgeable Quality Workplace Coach who is passionate about coaching, motivating, and inspiring others. In this role, you will support quality inspectors and oversee Structured On-The-Job activities. The ideal candidate will be Subject Matter Expert (SME) in various inspection methods and quality processes, with current hands-on experience and up-to-date proficiency in Non-Conformance Record (NCR) writing. Strong collaboration skills, natural coaching and leadership abilities, and a genuine talent for connecting with others are essential. Our team lives by the motto: “We Make People Awesome.” 

    Position Responsibilities: 

    Coaches Quality inspectors on best practices in inspection techniques and performance improvement, utilizing expertise in quality manufacturing and assembly across various areas such as Structures, Seal, Flightline processes, Functional Test, Wings, Interiors, Electrical, WIRS, NCR Tag Writing, Hydraulics, Engines, Paint, Systems, Plumbing and PDD (including but not limited to REDARS, PSDS, ONEPPM, D Documents Navigation), to enhance coaching, performance improvement, and problem solving in support of the Boeing Production System

    Analyzes and interprets performance and quality data (e.g. CMES, WebArt, CORRS, PAS, EPES, TMC) to identify improvement opportunities

    Analyzes processes and supports problem solving, develops, communicates and documents innovative solutions in support of area quality goals

    Assists Quality managers and team leads with Structured On-the-Job Training (SOJT) plans and provides program/job specific advanced skills coaching

    Offers Subject Matter Expertise for specific Quality skills through Workplace Coaching

    Provides coaching, positive modeling, and observation opportunities to help team members excel

    Encourages questions to ensure understanding and gives timely feedback on performance

    Reinforces efforts and progress while clarifying expected behaviors, knowledge, and proficiency levels

    Fosters good interpersonal relationships through helping team members feel valued, appreciated and included in discussions

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):  

    5+ years of experience in aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing environment

    5+ years of experience in aircraft manufacturing working with assembly processes and procedures

    5+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

    Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred 

    Quality inspection experience in three or more of these areas: Quality inspection in Structures, Seal, Flightline processes, Functional Test, Wings, Interiors, Electrical, WIRS, NCR Tag Writing, Hydraulics, Engines, Paint, Systems, Final Assembly, Plumbing and PDD (including but not limited to REDARS, PSDS, ONEPPM, D Documents Navigation), to enhance coaching, performance improvement, and problem solving in support of the Boeing Production System

    Position Responsibilities:

    Sequence, layout, fabricate, assemble, repair, rework, and maintain tools of various types and materials, following written or verbal instructions.

    Obtain assignments from team leaders, leads, supervisors, or work order files based on schedule, tool availability, and priority.

    Retrieve and interpret tool and engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, production parts, computing systems (e.g., MAPS, REDARS, Catia, Enovia), MES data, shop notes, 3D models, and verbal instructions to determine work scope and required tools.

    Use all types of power equipment (handheld and floor-mounted) and perform bench work including cutting, grinding, shaping, bending, drilling, tapping, wiring, lay-up, plumbing, weld prep, and hand finishing.

    Apply shop math, including trigonometry and geometry, to calculate dimensions and complete assignments accurately.

    Select, verify, and use appropriate tools and precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, conventional optics, 3D metrology systems) to ensure parts and tools meet specifications and provide quality data.

    Coordinate and communicate with customers, suppliers, associates, and engineering to resolve issues, seek guidance, and improve Boeing processes; initiate or monitor Action Requests (AR), Non-Conformance Records (NCRs), or ShipSide Action Tracker (SAT) as needed.

    Ensure availability of all parts, materials, and tools; coordinate ordering and tool certification verification.

    Perform Standing Tool Orders (STO) by repairing or replacing minor tool features and provide tooling assistance for layout and production part locating when tooling is unavailable.

    Fabricate or repair laminated fiberglass tools and assist in building plaster mandrels and mockups, including mixing, pouring, assembling, contouring, and dimensional checking.

    Prepare and install Master, Secondary, or Facility Gauges for routine maintenance or rework.

    Select and use drills, reamers, taps, countersinks, and counterbores; drill, tap, and ream holes; attach cables or chains to removable details.

    Install instruction placards and identify tools using various marking and labeling methods (painting, tagging, stenciling, stamping, engraving, etc.).

    Install or remove tooling parts from airplane sections to facilitate assembly or disassembly; assist crane crews in moving airplane sections and installing lifting fixtures.

    Operate mechanical lifts (e.g., tiger lifts, snorkel lifts, electric stackers, scissor lifts, gantry cranes, jacks) to move heavy tools and access work areas.

    Build wooden tool storage, shipping containers, and temporary tooling fixtures using power saws and pneumatic tools.

    Inspect work after each operation and upon completion to ensure compliance with specifications; submit in-process checks and assist Quality Assurance inspectors with final checks and documentation.

    Handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely, following Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Boeing requirements, using appropriate personal protective equipment.

    Maintain personal training, certifications, and tool certifications as required.

    Follow and complete correct Installation Plans (IP) in CMES or Velocity when performing Production Assist jobs.

    Validate capital equipment tooling requirements using metrology tools

    Determine and obtain the correct fasteners from PCA/MMO control per specifications.

    Set up assembly tools according to tooling instructions, ensuring locators are correct for the model.

    Align and secure parts on the airplane using tooling holes and clamps, checking for proper margins.

    Install and rework interior parts and assemblies, including carpets, stowbins, and seats.

    Select and use appropriate drill bits, reamers, and countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes.

    Drill, ream, and countersink holes in parts/assemblies per specifications and instructions.

    Disassemble parts, deburr holes, and prepare surfaces for fastener installation.

    Apply sealants, primers, adhesives, and corrosion-inhibiting compounds as required by specifications.

    Install fasteners in the correct sequence using appropriate tools, adhering to specifications.

    Mark and symbolize work for subsequent riveting and install cables and wire bundles as needed.

    Inspect completed work for defects, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and report any job handicaps.

    Move kits, carts, and equipment within the work cell to facilitate workflow and maintain personal and tool certifications.

    Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

    Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

    Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

    Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

    Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

    Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

    Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications

    1+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing or related sectors like aerospace, automotive, construction, maritime, or military.

    1+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications.

    1+ years of experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools.

    Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.

    Ability to wear hearing protection (ear inserts, canal caps, earmuffs); eye protection.

    Ability to use hazardous chemicals.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1+ years of experience installing aerospace components, construction or automotive assemblies with precision measurement tools, hand and power tools.

    Enrolled in a Boeing partnered manufacturing related high school or community and technology college academic program.
