    QAI Aviation is an FAA Part 145 Repair Station specializing in heavy helicopter maintenance, structural modifications, and avionics integration. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented engineer/integrator to support aircraft modification, certification, and integration projects across multiple helicopter platforms.

    This position works closely with our maintenance, avionics, and structures departments to develop and implement aircraft modifications from concept through installation and certification.

    Responsibilities

    Develop engineering drawings, installation packages, and technical documentation for aircraft modifications.Support STC development and certification projects for rotary-wing aircraft.Coordinate integration activities between engineering, avionics, structures, and maintenance teams.Create and revise CAD drawings and layouts using AutoCAD.Interpret OEM aircraft data, wiring diagrams, structural repair manuals, and FAA regulatory guidance.Support fabrication and installation of aircraft systems and components.Ensure all work is completed in accordance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.

    Qualifications

    Experience in aerospace, aviation, or aircraft modification environments preferred.Familiarity with FAA Part 145 operations and aircraft certification processes.Working knowledge of AutoCAD required.Experience with helicopter systems, avionics integration, or structural modifications strongly preferred.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.Understanding of FAA regulations related to aircraft modifications and STC projects preferred.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced maintenance environment.

    Preferred Experience

    Rotary-wing/helicopter maintenance or modification experience.STC development or certification project experience.Avionics installation and integration experience.Familiarity with CAD modeling and engineering documentation processes.A&P certificate, engineering degree, or equivalent industry experience is a plus.

    Position Summary
    The Tire Inspection Technician is responsible for inspecting, classifying, and processing used tires after Air Testing. This role ensures that every tire is accurately graded, safely handled, and properly routed into inventory, repair, or scrap. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Tire Inspection & Classification
    • Perform secondary visual and physical inspections of tires for tread depth, sidewall condition, and overall              quality.
    • Verify tire information including size, brand, DOT, and condition.

    Production Workflow
    • Process tires efficiently through the VCS station to meet daily throughput targets.
    • Accurately log all processed tires in the system, ensuring data integrity and traceability.

    Quality & Safety
    • Follow all safety procedures for lifting, handling, and operating equipment.
    • Identify defects or safety concerns and escalate when necessary.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

    Team Collaboration
    • Work closely with Air Testing, Repair, and Inventory teams to maintain smooth production flow.
    • Communicate issues, delays, or equipment concerns to supervisors promptly.
    • Support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.

    Qualifications
    • Ability to lift, move, and handle tires throughout the shift, up to 50 lbs.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
    • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
    • Prior warehouse, production, or automotive experience is helpful but not required — training provided.

    Schedule & Compensation
    • Full‑time position at our West Mifflin facility.
    • Competitive hourly pay, $19.00 per hour with opportunities for performance‑based increases.

Repair efforts may include epoxy/composite technologies, mechanical/machining processes, and arc welding technologies.

    Requirements

    BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

    The candidate will need to have or learn the ability to develop and interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards. Applicant must be able to plan and execute test programs, design experiments, analyze experimental results, and assist with the preparation of technical reports. Candidates must have digital design/CAD skills, and preferably will also have familiarity with digital data acquisition hardware and software. The candidate will be asked to lead/execute laboratory operations in a productive, timely, and compliant manner.

    Desired Knowledge, Skillset, and Abilities

    Candidates that have a knowledge of materials engineering and a background in industrial operations are preferred. Should be able to help develop, test, evaluate, and eventually qualify repair procedures either in the laboratory or via vendors and shipyards. Excellent individual initiative and creativity will enhance the successful candidate's value in this position.
