    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionThe Boston Community Hub School (Hub School) Coordinator is a school-based position responsible for working closely with the school administrative teams to strategically organize the assets and resources of the school community and it’s many collaborators (students, families, school leadership, teachers, staff and partners) in service of students’ individual and collective academic success and wellbeing. Hub School Coordinators should be asset-based in their approach to supporting the success of students and the school community, seeking first to understand the inherent talents and cultural wealth of the community. 

    The role of the Hub School Coordinator goes beyond simply coordinating resources and partnerships to informing strategic planning and implementation, collaborating with families and students to develop their organizing capacity and build out an organizing strategy, and supporting sustainable structures for the cultivation of trusting relationships and partnerships. This role requires a dynamic person who can effectively navigate and interconnect multiple systems to support success for students. Coordinators are expected to work at their school, including hours beyond the school day and days beyond the school year. They will be expected to meet remotely or off-site regularly with BPS central office and other Hub Schools systems-level leadership.

    Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to a climate of joy, unity, inclusion, culture, and equity in the school community through deliberate commitment to culturally and linguistically sustaining practices (CLSP) and decision-making guided by use of the Racial Equity Planning Tool.Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with all parties to support collaborationContribute to the schools’ capacity to create and execute systems and processes that advance racial equity Work with the school’s administrative team to ensure community partners are asset-based and committed to culturally and linguistically affirming practices for students and families and ensure high quality programming.Participate in relevant school based teams/governance structures in order to support connecting community resources to the academic success and overall well being of students.Coordinate the execution of an assets and opportunities assessment to inform anti-racist decision-making and action-planningEngage representative body of stakeholders in leading the implementation of the assessment, leveraging existing structures when possible Review and analyze archival and existing data in collaboration with appropriate stakeholdersObtain data on the schools’ students, families, staff, and partners’ assets, aspirations and needsCollect and organize data on systems and practices of the school and, to the extent relevant, the districtSupport the development of reports on the school’s systems and practices as it relates to anti-racism and student academic progressBased on the schools' Assets and Opportunities Assessments and in collaboration with the appropriate school-based stakeholders:Support in identifying and developing strategic partnerships that can provide access to opportunities and experiences that complement and/or enrich the learning and lives of students and families so that they can unlock the greatness within themLeverage resources that empower students and families to lead sustainable solutionsSupport the Family Liaison to identify parent leaders and bring them into community school leadership opportunitiesIn collaboration with the Family Liaison and other family support roles, build out an organizing strategy for families and support this by coordinating resources that cultivate and sustain thisIn collaboration with staff who support student leadership, build out an organizing strategy for students and support this by coordinating resources that cultivate and sustain thisParticipate in regular Hub School Coordinator meetings and professional development opportunities as required and requested by the Hub School Director; participate in other related PD offered by the district and partnersSupport the evaluation of the Boston Community Hub Schools strategyPerform other tasks as directed by the school leader and/or the Hub School DirectorDevelop budgets, fundraising, and resource developments in support of school community prioritiesData Analysis to determine how to best identify resources to support the school community

    Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseJob Requirement:

    Qualifications - Required:Minimum two (2) years experience working in an urban setting with diverse populations with proven effective and culturally responsive experience serving the Black/African, Latinx, Asian diaspora, and immigrant communitiesMinimum (2) years experience working in Boston Public SchoolsProven knowledge about Boston, its communities, and its resourcesDeep understanding of and experience with community organizingCommitment to understanding the impact of the stresses of racism and poverty on students and their families served within urban school systemsAbility to facilitate conversations regarding race, ethnicity, racism, culture, and racial equityStrong presentation and facilitative leadership skills with audiences of various sizes, of various educational backgrounds, and with competing agendasAble to take initiative, and work in teams and independently without consistent direct supervisionAdvanced skills with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Suite A valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation Available to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends (This is a full-time 12-month position. Hours vary based on school buildings.)

    YMCA of Greater Boston Mobile Market Food Truck Manager

    The YMCA is a lead partner for the Greater Boston Food Bank and operates a warehouse Grocery Bag Distribution Program that packages and delivers 4,500+ grocery bags weekly to more than 45 partners through the city of Boston. A new Mobile Market will be operational in 2023 and will coordinate services in the city of Boston. The goal is to serve communities daily with food choice and individual selection. The YMCA of Greater Boston is also a partner to the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and delivers SNAP-Education/ Nutritional Education to all distribution Centers in the city of Boston, partners with the Massachusetts Alliance of Ys and works directly with JRI and independent consultant to measure the impact of all Distribution Center Operations and Activities. Annually pantry meals will deliver more than 3 million meals.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Proven ability to work with people from a variety of different ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, and generational backgrounds.

    • Ability to identify, develop and monitor partnerships that meet specific needs of families and community.

    • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Exchange and Outlook; use of spreadsheet software such as Excel; use of on-line reporting systems for data entry.

    • Ability to write and communicate clearly and effectively.

    • Serve Safe, CPR, First Aid & other program specific certifications required upon or after hire.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 -15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
