The Y is So Much More. Under the direction of the Site Director, the Assistant Director works to support daily Day Operations. The Assistant Director will assist in leading daily activities that allows children to learn and play at the same time, explore the community they live in, participate in sports and swimming and develop positive relationships. The Assistant Director models the Y's leadership core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Key Responsibilities Leadership Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with campers, parents and other camp personnel at all times. Camper safety is a top priority. Interprets the quality of YMCA values to campers, parents and staff. Must be a positive role model. Develops appropriate relationships with all campers in their care. Understands, establishes, and abides by appropriate boundaries. Plans and implements recreational and educational programs that emphasize group participation with an appropriate amount of choice. Uses positive, constructive methods of discipline/positive reinforcement, and ensures that all staff does the same. Communicates respectfully, openly and effectively with all staff, parents and children. Assists pool staff during daily swim instruction and aids lifeguards during free swim time. Program Implementation Manages daily attendance records for campers and groups. Supports with absence calls and confirms group rosters. Supports with behavior guidance with campers; coaches counselors in effective group management skills Sets and example for group game facilitation and camp tradition Assists in responsibility for Summer Foods Program Reports all accidents and unusual incidents immediately to appropriate supervisors and completes necessary documentation. Communicates program information, problems, and concerns as they occur. Assists with planning and implementing of daily camp activities, camp special events and Family Night activities. Actively participates in all aspects of camp daily leadership schedule including openings, closings, and extended hours. Performs other duties as required by supervisor (remains flexible). Demonstrates a willingness to help where needed and actively seeks to develop oneself. Support with camper file management. Support groups in need Attends all staff meetings and training sessions; assists in facilitation. Becomes familiar with training materials and actively incorporates them in their day to day interactions and work with campers and staff. Maintains and cares for all program areas and supplies. Ensures that campers treat all equipment, supplies, and camp property responsibly. Abides by the established YMCA/DPH/ACA day camp policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines and asks when in doubt. Work Environment Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in all physical camp games and activities. Works in a busy indoor environment; leads outside activities as well. May be expected to be in the water during all swim periods. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age and have a passion for working with and nurturing children. Must have high school diploma or equivalent; college degree or pursuing a college degree preferred. Experience working with children (youth programs, camp settings or related field); understand the needs of children. Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and utilize effective communication skills. Possesses a knowledge of group process collaborative style of working within a team. Must be committed to carry out YMCA mission, camp philosophy, and departmental goals. Must possess current First Aid, Oxygen, and CPR certifications and as required by the specific camp; or successfully complete YMCA provided First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse Prevention Training upon hire. Must be available up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday for an 8 hour shift between the hours of 7:30am-5:00pm. So Much More. Position Summary: Reporting to the Camp Director, the Archery Specialist oversees archery instruction, teaching proper and safe, age appropriate technique and use of equipment. Reports all accidents/unusual incidents immediately to appropriate supervisors and creates necessary documentation. Communicates program information, problems, and concerns as they occur. Assists with planning and implementing Camp Special Events and Family Night Activities. Assists with the coordination of camp activities. Actively participates in and takes ownership of all aspects of camp program, including special events, openings, closings, and extended hours. Attends all staff meetings and training sessions. Becomes familiar with provided training materials and actively incorporates them in their day today interactions and work with campers. Maintains and cares for all program areas and supplies. Takes inventory of their supplies weekly and updates camp directors with respect to supply needs. Assist with pre or post care and/or transportation as assigned. Ensures that a name to face is taken before and after any transitions. Performs other duties as required by supervisor (remains flexible). Demonstrates a willingness to help where needed. Abides by the established YMCA/DPH/ACA day camp policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines and asks when in doubt.     To serve as sensory system of program during after business hours and weekends. As per contract with the Department of Housing and Community Development, shelter must be staffed 24/7; therefore, relief staffing pattern ensures compliance with said contract.
    Key Responsibilities1.      Provide 24/7 coverage of emergency shelter program.
    2.      Perform all administrative duties after business hours and on weekends and holidays.3.      Allow electronic program access to all residents and authorized visiting professionals.4.      Keep daily, accurate accounts of residents upon program family logs.
    5.      Oversee usage of all program facilities, including kitchens, laundries, common areas and play space area.6.      Document all residents’ curfew violations and unauthorized overnight infractions.7.      Write incident reports for all suspicious behavior and injurious actions within program.8.      Distribution of meals and cleaning of kitchen area after business hours.
    9.      Document arrival and departure of all visiting professionals.
    10. Attend to all housekeeping issues relayed by community after business hours.
    11. Contact Executive Director of Housing for all urgent issues, matters and concerns after business hours or on weekends.12. Execute, account and record all residents’ evacuation during fire alarms and emergency responses.13.   Perform hourly rounds on both third and fourth floors of program.
