What you will do:
As an RT you will work at assessing, treating and caring for patients of all ages who suffer from pulmonary (breathing) disorders. In addition to analyzing and performing diagnostic testing, respiratory therapists perform relevant exams as well as set up and utilize cardiopulmonary equipment and machines needed to assist or monitor the patients breathing
Responsibilities:
Gather data to be able to accurately assess a patient's current health statusAssess the patient according to the patient's physical or age related needsObserve, record and report symptoms, reactions and progress of patientsAdminister and record prescribed medications, treatments and diagnostic proceduresResponsible for airway management including performing endotracheal intubations and extubations, pulmonary hygiene, and tracheostomy care and emergency life support proceduresProvides extensive health education to patients and to the general population through community services
Discipline (RN, MD, CST...): RT (Respiratory Therapy)
Certifications/License Required: Associates Degree (or higher) in Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory Care. Active NBRC credential & Active NYS Respiratory Therapist license
Shift: Three 12 hour night shifts (7pm-7:30am) per week
Holiday/Weekend Requirement: three 12 hour holiday shifts per season (the night before and night of the holiday count as holiday shifts). Every other weekend.
Experience Level Requested (in years): 1+ years experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care hospital setting including ED and adult critical care required. 1+ year experience working in a Level 3 NICU preferred.
