    Job Description

    This position is within the standard product development group at Irvine CA location. Development of proven and new designs for High voltage DCDC converters, using modelling, simulation, and hardware testing. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analysis’s equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Design and development of DC/DC high voltage power supplies utilizing various topologies, under guidance of senior engineers. Electrical design of DC/DC switch mode power supplies with output voltage above 2KVDC and up to 500W.Assist in taking products from concept through prototype and into production by helping ensure designs meet performance, schedule, cost, and reliability targets.Electrical design of new and modified products, ensure products designs are cost effective and design for manufacturing.Hands on design validation and Verification experience including impedance and loop phase/gain measurements, precision noise measurement, and load transient response.Complies with required regulatory standards.Liaising with cross-functional team (PCB layout, Mechanical engineering, Manufacturing and Quality engineering) to facilitate the design process.Selection of raw materials, components and suppliers based on product performance specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements.Participate in internal design reviews by preparing supporting material, documenting feedback, and tracking follow-ups.Perform circuit simulations, DFMEA, component stress analysis, and design verification testing; collect data and contribute to technical reports. Prepare and maintain documentation required for product release and support engineering change activities (ECR/ECO processing via SAP, as applicable to the role).Responsible for root causes analysis on products, technical problems and documentation.Qualifications

    Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, Master's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of related experience.Experience working in High voltage environment (above 2KVDC)Experience working with magnetics and practical design of custom transformers and inductors, including planar magnetics for High Voltage DC/DC converters.Knowledge of power conversion principles for High Voltage output, topologies and soft switching techniques.Experience of designing High Voltage PCB layouts.Developing debug skills: problem tracking, documenting observations, and collaborating on root-cause investigations.Experience in modelling, simulation, and testing of power electronics.Analytical - Collect and research data using intuition and experience to compliment that data.Problem Solving - Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.Motivation - set and achieve challenging goals; demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles; measure self against standard of excellence.Planning/Organizing - prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; set goals and objectives; develop realistic action plans.Oral Communication – in English, speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; respond well to questions; demonstrate good presentation skills; participate effectively in meetings.Written Communication – in English, write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs; present numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information

    Job Description

    This poistion will require testing, troubleshooting, calibration, repairs of AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies. Key responsabiliutes will include but not limited to:

    Perform fault reproduction, troubleshooting, system characterization, and root cause analysis of product issues, while ensuring efficient bug tracking and resolution.Collaborate effectively with engineering and support team members to troubleshoot complex technical issues across a wide range of systems.Deliver comprehensive technical reports to customers detailing findings from product failure investigations.Participate in new product development during the qualification phase for training and ramp-up.Collaborate with the development team on failure analysis and corrective action validation during the qualification phase.Provide expert advice to internal and external customers on corrective actions based on the results of the analysis.Qualifications

    Minimum of associate’s degree in electronic engineering or a related technical discipline.Knowledge of AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion circuit topologies, such as fly-back, forward, boost, buck, and buck-boost converters is highly preffered.Proficiency in using lab equipment for characterization and design of power supplies and systems (oscilloscopes, DMMs, EMI analyzers, loads, sources, etc.).Experience with high voltage systems and firmware debugging is a strong plus.Understanding of analog, mixed-signal, and/or power semiconductor operational characteristics, with the ability to apply fault isolation techniques at both component and board levels.Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and across functional departments.A proactive and aggressive attitude, with the ability to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment.

    Job Description

    The Test Engineer will work directly with other Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineers to facilitate various activities to implement automated data acquisition, find defects earlier in the process, improve repeatability, and become the subject matter expert on all test requirements related to XP Power’s HVHP products. The core responsibility of the Test Engineer is to own the implementation, coordination, and documentation of test fixtures, processes, and requirements in partnership with the HVHP design team to support expanding our production capacity and capabilities to meet the needs of our customers.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to design, commission, and continuously improve electro-mechanical assemblies, fixtures, processes, and procedures to efficiently and repeatably produce high quality HVHP products.Design automated tests and interfaces to current and future equipment to develop repeatable and reliable test processes for the verification of our HVHP products and assemblies.Fabricate and/or modify existing prototype components and fixtures for production and NPIPartner with the quality team to better utilize and enhance data systems to monitor and improve first pass yield using structured problem solving to identify the root cause of failures and consistent process complicationsImplement product and process engineering changes as required through the ECO/ECR process and maintain documentation (test/assembly procedures, training and operation manuals, equipment/tool calibration, etc.)Carry out manufacturability (DFM/DFT) review on all new products in a timely mannerPerforms other duties and responsibilities as requiredQualifications

    Bachelor's or Master's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalentExperience with High Voltage High Power is a preferredMinimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environmentPreferably related to power electronics or other complex electromechanical systemsDeep understanding of analog circuit theory, power conversion topologies, and component level testingProficient with various CAD and test software packages (Altium, LabView, SOLIDWORKS, etc.)Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to meet strict customer-based deadlinesProficient in using common desktop applications such as Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, ExcelAbility to apply common sense understanding to execute requirements delivered in various formats
