    We have a Controls Engineer position open in Orlando, FL. This position is responsible for electrical/controls engineering on large scale projects. Project requirements involve control system design from scratch (hardware/software/network), electrical panel design and power calculations, risk assessment, component selection and configuration, control system programming, and control system installation/commissioning.

    Major Responsibilities
    Must be organized, technically competent, have effective oral and written communications, experienced in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and draftersResponsible for system design from blank sheet of paper to create concept of electrical/control/system components based on project requirementsExperience doing design via drafting software (AutoCAD preferred)Provide input, and system modification as needed, for system integration with other project disciplinesAble to interface with facility design to optimize panel location minimizing voltage drop and designing a more efficient system hardware layoutManage vendor scope to verify safety, functionality, and all contract requirements are satisfiedEnsures design complies with any local or government agency design/implementation codes in addition to client codes/standardsKnowledge of analyzing system design for Hazard analysis development and mitigationDesign and analysis for safety critical parts within a control systemDesigning redundant mitigations in system to increase safety and reliabilityDesigning systems with complex motion and integration from automated systemsDevelops documents of system configuration and design. Documents include Description of operation, Detailed control system design description, panel assembly drawings and schematics, termination drawings, network layout, system implementation/acceptance test plans, system routine maintenance/job plansAble to perform the following system design calculations/analysis: Short circuit protection, harmonics, noise reduction / cancellation, power consumption, load flow, short circuit protection, protective relay / circuit design, ground fault monitoring, safety system implementation (SIL/PL rating knowledge is preferred)Designs, develops, and implements DCS/PLC control system (logic software) to meet process requirements. As well as the ability to understand and implement client design standards for software systemUnderstanding of control system components and instrumentation to properly design software interface/control to achieve system functionalityDevelops documents detailing control/software configuration and design. Documents include: Theory/Description of operation, Detailed control system design description, Software design plan, Detailed software implementation/description, system implementation/acceptance test plansKnowledge of design, troubleshooting, and code implementation for the following programming languages: Ladder logic (required), C++ (preferred), visual basic (preferred), and structured text (required)Ability to perform processor loading calculations, scan time analysis, input/output response timing analysis, control system network delays analysis, and program task/code block priorities/timing management/interfaceCan design code that is efficient (not processor resource heavy) while maintaining a minimalist implementation to help facility future modifications and understanding by client post turnover. This includes providing any documentation and/or tools that will assist with program understanding and troubleshootingAbility to diagnose control system issues during troubleshooting to assist in determining root cause (trending, system analysis, test logic, etc.)Ability to minimize secondary faults from occurring within logic by programming "smart" diagnostics that can determine root cause and minimize further effects caused by initial faultWill assist with initial start-up and debug integrated systems and the development of system documentationIndividual will be working on automation and control system integration projects for clients in industries such as entertainment and manufacturingWill act as technical lead on projects and may guide lower level engineers, technicians, and contractorsKnowledge of ride system design for attractions involving guests is preferredCapable of working "off" shifts as needed during installation/commissioning to support project
    Job Requirements
    Must be organized, technically competent, have effective oral and written communications, experienced in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters
    Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. (Bachelor's degrees in other disciplines may be acceptable if work experience is directly related to electrical engineering. Disciplines outside of the electrical/controls area will not be considered).

    Experience 5+ years of experience covering most responsibilities listed above. Preferred experience in ASTM standards, attractions industry, safety engineering, instrumentation, components, and logic programming. Experience with AutoCAD is also desired.

    Key Competencies Knowledge of contract documents and specifications. Ability to collect field data and accurately record findings. Ability to perform system design functions. Planning, Customer Focused, Timely Decision Making, Informing, Organizing, Priority Setting, Problem Solving. Experience working with hardware/software from one of the major industrial manufacturers (i.e. Allen-Bradly, Siemens, etc.). Experience with ethernet based distributed remote I/O systems.

    Skills All employees are required to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office environments.

    Travel Ability to travel up to 30% worst case (10% is typical with last couple years depending on project).

    Physical Demands of Position Seeing, color perception, hearing, listening, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, ability to mount and dismount equipment, pushing, and pulling.

    Working Condition Expected on client location 5 days a week, Standard office environment, On-site office environment, and diverse industrial/construction environments. Frequent PC usage, copy machines, phones.

    Wunderlich-Malec's Electrical Testing Group (ETG) is expanding - and we're seeking an entrepreneurial Operations Manager to lead our newest regional location from the ground up. This position combines operational leadership with entrepreneurial drive - serving as both Integrator and Builder of a new ETG Business Unit. You'll take ownership of day-to-day execution, lead a growing technical team, manage P&L objectives, and work side-by-side with ETG leadership to bring our proven business model to a new region.     Key Responsibilities
    1. Operational Leadership & Execution
    Faithfully execute the ETG business plan - achieving or exceeding P&L, revenue, and performance goalsLead all regional operations including scheduling, resource planning, quality assurance, safety, and project deliveryImplement and maintain ETG's operating systems, testing standards, and documentation processesManage field operations for protective relaying, SCADA, and IEC 61850 systems commissioningEnsure alignment between technical execution and business objectives - balancing efficiency, quality, and profitability
    2. Integration & Team Alignment
    Integrate all major functions of the local ETG operation - ensuring everyone is rowing in the same directionLead, manage, and hold team members accountable for results and commitmentsBuild and nurture a healthy, functional, and cohesive leadership team under the EOS frameworkResolve issues effectively: identify root causes, address conflict constructively, and drive solutions to completion
    3. Business Unit Development
    Build the BU from the ground up - recruiting, training, and developing a skilled team of field engineers and techniciansEstablish vendor partnerships and client relationships within the regionDrive growth through operational excellence, local market development, and client satisfactionCreate and maintain structure and process as the BU transitions from startup to sustainable operation
    4. Vision & Collaboration
    Collaborate closely with the ETG Visionary and National Leadership Team to ensure clear direction and alignmentTranslate vision into actionable, measurable goalsMaintain a strong, respectful partnership with ETG leadership - ensuring ideas are filtered, prioritized, and implemented effectivelyEnsure that key messages and decisions are properly cascaded across the team so that everyone is informed, aligned, and focused
    5. Systems, Structure, and Process
    Operate within ETG's EOS framework: own the scorecard, lead local L10s, and manage to defined KPIsEnsure consistency in how core processes are followed, documented, and improvedDemonstrate strong project management discipline and operational consistencyUphold ETG's values of safety, integrity, quality, and innovation in every aspect of operations
    What Success Looks Like
    First 6-12 Months
    Establish the foundation: hire key staff, build client relationships, deliver first projects successfully, and drive the BU toward break-even
    12-24 Months
    Transition into the Growth Phase: solid team structure, sustainable backlog, and strong client confidenceLocal L10s running consistently, scorecard metrics trending upward, and P&L tracking toward profitability by month 12
    Beyond 24 Months
    The BU is Mature: operating as a profitable, independently functioning unit within the national ETG network, recognized for its technical quality and reliability
    Qualifications
    7+ years in power systems testing, commissioning, or utility operationsProven leadership experience managing people, budgets, and project deliveryStrong understanding of protective relaying, automation, and SCADA systemsEntrepreneurial mindset - thrives in building structure from scratchExcellent communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skillsExperience with EOS or similar operating systems preferredWillingness to travel regionally and work in a dynamic field environment

    Salary Range The expected salary range is $160,000 - $190,000 annually depending on qualifications plus a discretionary bonus and employee stock program.
