Our Ideal CandidateWe are looking for that special someone - someone who believes that curiosity is the key to learning and public schools are missing the mark in supporting creativity - even in math! We believe in making mistakes, in having a growth mindset, and that life skills and social-emotional development are as important as any academic subject. We want someone who can bring the energy, laugh alongside our students, and leverage curriculum in a way that maximizes student learning opportunities, keeps learning FUN, and does all the above in differentiated, ability-based classes.
Our teachers work collaboratively as a team and coordinate weekly field studies that incorporate the various subjects we're learning. All of our team also have the opportunity to teach related classes (eg. science) and/or electives in addition to their core subject area(s).
Our ideal teacher is someone who:has a background in alternative/progressive educational methodologies (ie., Project-Based Learning, inquiry-based, experiential learning, student-driven models, etc),has experience teaching Math, ELA, History or Science at the middle- or high-school levels,enjoys creating and integrating curriculum,is neuro-affirming and possesses a passion for, and experience working with, gifted students AND students with learning differences (twice-exceptional students), andcan differentiate instruction and provide students with a choice on how to access the curriculum and demonstrate mastery (UDL), andintegrates mindfulness and other social-emotional activities into the curriculum, listens to and responds to feedback, and wears the many hats a teacher so frequently does.

Our Vision and ModelWe are a hybrid microschool supporting twice-exceptional and gifted middle- and high-students. Our classes are intended to provide academic rigor, not in the traditional sense, but in an innovative and supportive way. We have created a space where all learners feel safe, loved and comfortable being themselves. We acknowledge and provide for various types of learners - audio-, visual-, and kinesthetic. We don't believe in grades, per se, or homework, or checking boxes. Our goal is to support curiosity, encourage questioning, engage our students' passion for learning (in the various forms that may take), and make learning accessible.
This position can be either part-time or full-time, but both would require in-person teaching and be school-year-long. It is not a temporary position or a remote-work position.
