    Responsibilities

    Lead and manage civil engineering, design, and construction-related projects.Serve as lead engineer and/or project manager for roadway, drainage, water, sewer, site, and flood protection projects.Coordinate with survey, geotechnical, and other subconsultants.Mentor EIs and junior staff while helping build and strengthen our engineering team.Assist with project pursuits, client relationships, and overall practice growth.Help improve project delivery processes, technical standards, and quality control.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.Louisiana Professional Engineer license, or ability to obtain quickly.Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in civil engineering design and/or project management.Strong understanding of civil engineering design, permitting, and construction practices.Experience with software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS.Prior experience leading projects or mentoring staff preferred.Previous engineering management experience is a major plus, but not required.Company DescriptionWingate Engineers was founded on the principle that engineering has the power to transform communities.     Job Description
    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
    Under supervision, performs engineering work in designing and supervising the construction
    and maintenance of roads, utilities, general construction, and capital improvement projects.
    Performs work involving the planning, design and execution of the professional and
    construction services.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Provides technical and administrative assistance to other project management and
    operating divisions. Perform a variety of field surveys, investigations, and
    compilation of engineering data.
    2. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and
    applicable laws including training in job skills; planning, assigning and directing
    work.
    3. Enforce safety rules and encourage safety application for employees, conforming to
    the safety guidelines set by the Company.
    4. Confers with upper management to keep them informed on key issues and progress
    toward objectives and to gain their support and approval; makes recommendations
    to assist management in making needed improvements.
    5. Assist in planning, assigning and supervising a staff of technical assistants in the
    preparation of design criteria, designs specifications, plans, investigations, cost
    estimates, tabulation of contract bids, contract payments and related work.
    6. Performs a review of hydraulic, roadway, utilities, commercial site plan, residential
    subdivisions, and other engineering designs.
    7. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and
    applicable laws including training in job skills; planning, assigning and directing
    work.
    8. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
    STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
    mentioned Satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Professional licensure and technical degree are required in engineering or a related field.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Employee shall have some supervisory responsibilities specifically related to the supervision
    of other staff in relation to the same type of engineering and project management functions
    that this position is primarily responsible for performing.
    COMMUNICATION SKILLS
    Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; Ability to
    effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients,
    customers, and the general public.
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modem algebra, and
    advanced statistical theory.
    CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations
    where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished
    in written, oral, or diagram formats.
    SUPERVISION RECEIVED
    Under direction where a definite objective is set up and the employee plans and arranges own
    work, referring only unusual cases to supervisor.
    PLANNING
    Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method,
    manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work; may also occasionally assist in the
    planning of work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
    DECISION MAKING
    Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor
    importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of
    which would affect the work operations of small organizational component and the
    organization's clientele.
    MENTAL DEMAND
    Very close mental demand. Operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or
    select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the organization's
    administration and operations; also, to determine or select material and equipment where
    highly variable sequences are involved.
