Assignments can include: traffic safety/operations studies; development or application of Synchro, SimTraffic, TransModeler, VISSIM, and VISUM models; and design of traffic control devices (traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, lighting); work zone traffic control; ITS and CAV projects. Project assignments can range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor projects, as well as innovative multimodal transportation plans.
Position may include working at client site(s) and infrequent travel.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program required, master's degree preferrred16+ years of progressive experience in traffic and/or ITS engineeringLicensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain license within 6 months.Certified PTOEExperience using traffic guidelines, such as AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual and Highway Safety ManualExperience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.Experience with any of the following:HCS, Synchro/SimTrafficTransModeler, VISSIM, and/or VISUMDesign of traffic control devices (traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, lighting) and work zone traffic controlITS and CAV projectsProficiency working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)Exceptional communication, technical writing and organizational skills.Positive attitude and willingness to work independently and cooperatively with others.Ability to handle multiple projects and manage time accordingly.Experience in the development of proposals for new assignments.Experience in project management and contract management.Experience working with VDOT preferred.Benefits:
