    White Bear Lake Area Schools is currently hiring for multiple Child Care Assistant positions within our before and after school Extended Day Programs, which operate at all nine elementary schools. These programs offer a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children in grades K–5 during out-of-school hours.

    The Child Care Assistant is responsible for supervising and leading a designated group of students, with a focus on planning and implementing enrichment and recreational activities that incorporate student interests and voices. This role plays a key part in building positive relationships, maintaining group management, and supporting students' social and emotional growth.

    Your Role Will Include:

    Lead and supervise a group of elementary-aged students during before and/or after school hours.Plan and implement engaging enrichment and recreational activities that reflect student interests and promote learning, creativity, and social development.Foster a positive and inclusive environment through strong group management, relationship-building, and clear behavior expectations.Support student well-being by implementing daily routines, maintaining a safe and organized space, and following individualized support plans as needed.Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and families to ensure high-quality program delivery.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum age: 16 years old.Education: High School Diploma or GED (required if 18 years or older).Experience working with school-aged children (formal or informal).Successful completion of background check.

    Salary and Benefits:

    Starting at $19.39/hour. On-the-job, paid training for first aid, CPR, child development, and working with special needs children.

    White Bear Lake Area Schools is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Child Care Assistant to support students with special needs who are enrolled in our Extended Day Programs, which operate before and after school on weekdays, from September through June. These programs offer enriching opportunities that celebrate youth with diverse interests, talents, and perspectives.

    As a Special Needs Child Care Assistant, you will provide individualized and group-based support to students with special needs, ensuring their successful participation in program activities. This role includes modeling and encouraging appropriate behavior, communication, and dress while supporting the students' engagement and development in a safe and inclusive environment.

    Your Role Will Include:

    Provide direct support to students with special needs during program activities in individual, small group, or large group settings.Foster student engagement by modeling and encouraging appropriate behavior, communication, and participation.Assist with adapting activities and environments to meet individual student needs.Collaborate with staff to implement behavior support strategies and ensure student safety.Maintain accurate documentation and communicate observations to the Site Supervisor as needed.Attend all required training and staff meetings to maintain compliance and support professional growth.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or GED.Moderate experience working with children.Hold an AA/AS degree, OR have completed 60 semester credits, OR have an approved competency portfolio, OR have passed the MN Paraprofessional Assessment (Parapro Test).Successful completion of background check.

    Salary and Benefits:

    Starting at $22.91/hour. On-the-job, paid training for first aid, CPR, child development and working with special needs children.Ongoing staff development. Strong team environment.
