Position Overview:
The Finishing Department Technician is responsible for completing final production processes on electrical transformers before shipment. This role ensures that all units meet quality, safety, and customer specifications through painting, labeling, final assembly, inspections, and preparation for delivery. The Finishing Technician plays a critical role in delivering a high-quality customer-ready product.
Requirements:Production & Assembly:
Perform final assembly tasks, including installation of gauges, nameplates, bushings, hardware, and accessories. Install and verify labeling, warning decals, and customer-specific markings. Perform touch-up work, sanding, and surface preparation before painting. Apply paint and coatings according to company standards and specifications. Ensure proper curing and drying of coatings.Quality Inspection:
Conduct final visual inspections for cosmetic defects, damage, or inconsistencies. Verify unit configuration matches work orders and engineering specifications. Confirm torque requirements and secure mounting of components. Document inspection results and report non-conformances. Assist Quality team with final release checks as needed.Packaging & Shipment Preparation:
Prepare finished transformers for shipment, including wrapping, crating, banding, and palletizing. Secure components to prevent shipping damage. Ensure proper documentation, tagging, and shipping labels are attached. Coordinate with Logistics and Shipping departments to meet delivery schedules.Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements. Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S standards. Properly handle paints, solvents, and finishing materials per EHS guidelines. Comply with all company policies and ISO quality standards.Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve finishing processes and reduce rework. Support lean manufacturing and waste reduction initiatives. Participate in cross-functional training as required.Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred. 1-3 years of manufacturing or industrial finishing experience preferred. Experience in painting, assembly, or mechanical work is a plus. Experience in transformer manufacturing or heavy industrial equipment preferred. Strong attention to detail and quality standards. The Quality Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization's quality initiatives by monitoring manufacturing processes, inspecting products, analyzing quality data, and assisting with corrective actions to ensure products meet company and customer requirements. This role works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to maintain compliance with established standards and drive continuous improvement.
Duties:
Documentation & Reporting:
Create work instructions, forms, process flow diagrams, and inspection checklists for production operations.Conduct audits of manufacturing processes and documentation.Investigate quality issues and assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.Collect, analyze, and report quality data trends.Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.Support the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems and procedures.Assist with calibration and verification of measuring and testing equipment.Participate in customer and internal quality meetings as needed.Provide evidence for customer survey forms.Ensure compliance with safety policies, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.Process & Continuous Improvement:
Identify trends in defects and recommend actions to reduce rework and improve quality.Participate in process improvement meetings, kaizen events, or lean manufacturing initiatives.Update inspection procedures, checklists, and quality documentation when processes change.Safety & Work Environment:
Follow all safety procedures.Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.Maintain a clear and organized work area.Requirements:A bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred.3 years of experience in quality documentation or a similar role.Knowledge of ISO 9001. An active participant in ISO audits is preferred.Experience with completing customer surveys and performing supplier audits.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.Proficiency with measurement tools. Experience with electrical testing preferred.Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation skills.Strong understanding of root cause analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and statistical process control (SPC).Proficient computer skills, including experience with ERP systems and data entry.Experience in electrical transformer manufacturing or related electrical/mechanical equipment is preferred.Additional Information:
