Operator Apprentice
Our Operator Apprentice position is an entry level role with the expectation that self-motivated individuals will advance into progressively skilled positions.
What you will do:
Maintaining safe work areas, collecting debris and disposing of sawdust and dropped lumber in assigned areasCleaning industrial equipment and workstationsRelieving production positions; operating various light and heavy industrial machineryShowing a willingness and flexibility to perform various job assignments that may change dailySupporting our culture of safety by adhering to mill safety policies and procedures at all timesWhat you need to be successful:

The Sawmill Superintendent will provide leadership, training, and development to supervisors and hourly employees by managing the process flow, resources, and workforce to meet and exceed established budgets and performance objects.
Responsibilities include:
Provide leadership for the department by being a role model in all and maintaining high standards in areas including safety, working relationships, quality, and trainingOversee the day to day operations of the sawmill and maintenance departmentsUtilize established performance management system to develop direct reports in the best interest of West Fraser (costs, overtime, absenteeism, employee performance)Work with operations to improve reliability and maximize equipment availability at the lowest cost to the mill through involvement and understanding of the businessProvide supervisors with the tools and manpower to keep the equipment reliableDevelop, implement, monitor, and report on systems for personnel development, system design, cost control, and equipment availabilityManage the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost, development, and education on key metricsEffectively communicate goals to the teamQualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment requiredMinimum of 1 year of proven leadership, vision, dedication & ability to mentor a teamExcellent communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills – conflict management, coaching, supportive feedback, and problem-solvingStrong mechanical and technical knowledge.Must be computer literate, including a strong background in MS OfficeStrong Organizational and Leadership SkillsDetail and results-orientedFinancial planning & budgeting experiencePreferred skills:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Millwright will be a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily use of troubleshooting and predictive, preventative maintenance strategies. As a member of this high-performing team, you will be responsible for working safely with all machinery within the mill.
What you will do:
Troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, and perform maintenance work on machineryUndertake preventative and predictive maintenance programs for equipmentRepair and maintenance of industrial equipment to include conveying systems, major machine centers such as debarkers, canters, gang saws, and edgers.Welding and operating oxy-acetylene torches.Maintain and operate basic tools such as grinders, hydpresses, drill presses, air tools, etc.Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.What you need to be successful:
