    Our priority is to make sure we hire mechanics that care about the safety of our drivers and the service provided to the community. As a mechanic with us the minimum responsibilities are:

    Perform repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel vehicles. Utilize vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes to identify and adjust Engine and Vehicle Control modules Respond to road calls for emergency repairs Reviewing, Completing or assigning repairs identified on driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software programs. Test driving trucks after services and repairs Helping other team members with repairs as needed Having professional and courteous interactions with our drivers when needed. Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    What we need from you:

    Proficiency in a variety of diesel vehicle diagnostic tools, preventative maintenance and repair. Basic tool set Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of start of position Hydraulic experience is a plus

    Lead various engineering construction and permitting projects.

    Support our customers and sales team in identifying and optimizing waste handling solutions.

    Review and understand all permits governing the landfill and provide guidance to District Managers to ensure site compliance.

    Assist with landfill, transfer station, material recycling facility, and hauling site environmental audits.

    Manage and respond to regulatory and community concerns

    The ideal candidate will possess the following:

    Desire to be a leader in the company's engineering and environmental program and to learn and grow all business sectors across the company.

    Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervision.

    Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, contracts, federal, state and local regulations, engineering design and operating plans, maintenance and procedural manuals.

    Excellent technical report writing skills.

    Ability to define problems, collect data, interpret data and draw valid conclusions.

    Ability to predict and manage future compliance needs and adapt to changing regulatory environments.

    Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with sales team, operations team, outside consultants and vendors, and customers.

    Minimum requirements are the following:

    Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related

    Minimum of 5 years of previous experience managing projects that include substantial design efforts, permitting, construction earth movement, and building construction

    Experience in the solid waste industry, preferred

    Excellent oral and written skills

    Excellent organizational skills

    Enjoys sharing ideas and communicating with others

    Experience in communicating with government officials and departments

    Willingness to travel outside the office 50% of the time via plane and/or car

Key Responsibilities Perform inspections, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems Interpret vehicle computer system failure codes and make necessary adjustments to engine and vehicle control modules Review and complete repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports Accurately document services using fleet maintenance software Conduct post-service test drives to ensure safety and performance Collaborate with teammates on complex repairs Maintain professional, courteous communication with drivers and team members Keep workspaces clean and compliant with OSHA standards Perform other job-related duties as assigned What We're Looking For Minimum 3 years of mechanic experience, preferably with diesel trucks Strong skills in electrical and hydraulic systems Well-rounded experience in mechanical and welding repairs Familiarity with diesel vehicle diagnostics and preventative maintenance Basic tool set required Valid CDL Class B or A license required Ability to work independently within a shop environment Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork What We Offer Competitive compensation 401(k) with company match Medical, dental, and vision coverage Life insurance and short-term/long-term disability Employee Assistance Mental Health Program Emergency Travel Assistance & Prepaid Legal Plan Employee Stock Purchase Plan & Employee Relief Fund Scholarship opportunities for employees' children Waste Connections is an equal opportunity employer.
