    Pahrump Valley Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is looking to hire a seasoned Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Pahrump, NV!

    Schedule is subject to change but will be Tuesday -Saturday, 10:30AM-7:00PM. The pay range for this job category is $38-40 per hour. We are also offering a Sign on Bonus of $2,500!

    We are looking for a diesel service technician, specializes in the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.

    Your work would involve a wide range of tasks, including diagnostic testing, component replacement, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting various mechanical and electrical issues.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Preventative Maintenance: Performing regular maintenance tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid flushes. Component Replacement: Replacing or repairing worn-out or damaged parts, such as engines, transmissions, steering systems, and brakes. Diagnostic Testing: Using diagnostic tools to identify faults and malfunctions. Troubleshooting: Identifying the root cause of problems and implementing effective solutions. Test Driving: Test driving vehicles to assess performance and ensure proper repairs. Communication: Communicating with customers to explain repairs and maintenance needs. Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed records of vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance. Safety: Adhering to safety regulations and procedures when working on vehicles and equipment. QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS: 10 years of experience working as a diesel mechanic Valid Commercial Driver's License and clean driving record. Able to work utilizing safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, uniform, and hearing protection (PPE). Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately. Ability to speak effectively to employees of organization. Ability to read and write in English. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Willing and able to work weekends as needed PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; push and pull tool box weighing up to 100 lb.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of radiation, and vibration.

    The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, earplugs required.
