Position Summary
The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the second shift production team, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all manufacturing areas. This role serves as the primary link between the production floor and plant leadership, driving accountability, communication, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities and Duties
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and manage the second shift production team, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.Ensure proper training of all new manufacturing team members; maintain training records per the Training Matrix.Provide ongoing development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.Provide input on annual evaluations and communicate employee concerns to management.Ensure team members adhere to break/lunch schedules as assigned by management.Fill in for absences across manufacturing areas as needed.Production & Planning
Collaborate with the Planning Department to develop, implement, and maintain daily production schedules, ensuring optimal resource utilization.Maintain and improve overall manufacturing efficiency to 85% or greater.Attend daily production meetings with planning and management.Conduct daily start-up meetings including training documentation, schedule communication, quality updates, and safety topics.Quality & Process Improvement
Maintain quality standards across all manufacturing areas, ensuring compliance with customer expectations and API requirements.Assist with MRB team dispositions and physical removal of approved scrap.Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce production costs.Address production issues promptly, troubleshoot challenges, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.Safety & Housekeeping
Ensure all team members wear proper PPE and follow safety rules, protocols, and regulations.Maintain floor markings, housekeeping standards, and a safe working environment across all manufacturing areas.Drive continuous improvement in housekeeping, discipline, and manufacturing output.Equipment, Materials & Inventory
Maintain all tooling and equipment in the Manufacturing Department with support from Maintenance.Coordinate with Maintenance on PM projects and scheduling to minimize production and equipment downtime.Ensure proper flow of materials to and from all manufacturing areas.Oversee inventory levels, reorder supplies as needed, and coordinate with the operations team to maintain adequate stock.Communication & Reporting
Maintain strong relationships and open communication with leaders across all areas of the plant.Foster clear communication channels between shifts, departments, and leadership to promote a collaborative work environment.Generate regular reports on production KPIs, performance metrics, and any issues encountered during the second shift.
Qualifications
BilingualPrior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.Strong understanding of production scheduling, quality systems, and safety regulations.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse production team.Experience with MRP systems required; experience with Global Shop Solutions is highly preferred.Familiarity with API standards and quality management processes is a plus.Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.Company Description
