We are seeking a legal assistant, paralegal, or legal secretary to join our Dallas law firm and support attorney billing and time review.
This role is ideal for:

This is not a traditional accounting role. It is designed for legal support professionals with law firm experience who are interested in transitioning into legal billing and timekeeping, as well as experienced legal billing professionals.
In this role, you will work closely with attorneys and legal staff to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely billing in a fast-paced law firm environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and distribute monthly prebills to assigned attorneysMaintain and track monthly prebill status; follow up to ensure timely completionReview, edit, and finalize prebills in collaboration with timekeepersEdit invoices to ensure compliance with client billing guidelines and litigation management requirementsIdentify non-compliant time entries and work directly with timekeepers to revise narratives as neededUpload invoices to various electronic billing platformsAnalyze billing reductions, denials, and rejections from clientsDraft well-supported appeals of billing reductionsSubmit appeals through e-billing platforms and monitor outcomesTrack recurring reduction trends and proactively address compliance issuesResearch and respond to billing-related inquiries and resolve billing issuesMaintain organized documentation of billing adjustments and appealsAssist with month-end billing deadlines and reportingAssist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Prior experience in a law firm as a billing coordinator, billing specialist, legal assistant, paralegal, or legal secretaryStrong knowledge of legal terminology and litigation workflowsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and the Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent written communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExceptional attention to detail and ability to follow instructions thoroughlyAbility to multitask, prioritize, and meet strict billing deadlinesAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staffDependable with a high degree of professionalism and confidentialityExperience with electronic billing systems (e.g., CounselLink, TyMetrix, or similar platforms)Familiarity with LEDES billing formats

Qualifications/Requirements:
Law firm experienceCivil defense litigation experience preferredExcellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, be detail-oriented, hard-working, enthusiastic, team-oriented, and have a determination to "figure it out."Excellent communication skills, typing skills, computer skills, interpersonal skills, and professional appearanceActive knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure as well as knowledge and experience in preparing basic legal documents and pleadingsElectronically file in Federal and State courts
