The Position: We re looking for a Lowboy Driver to assist in the transportation of heavy construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Role and Responsibilities: Operate a tractor and trailer lowboy/flat to perform assigned tasks relating to road construction, repair and paving. Safety secure and unsecure all loads. Safely transport equipment and materials via tractor and trailer to job sites and back, work with foreman on site while loading and unloading heavy equipment and materials safely. Operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. The Location: Northeast Asphalt is located primarily in Northeastern Wisconsin, but projects and locations serviced by our transportation department vary by location throughout the local area, and may include surrounding states. A willingness to travel, including occasional overnight, is required as needed. The Candidate: Minimum two (2) years of related tractor/trailer driving experience hauling large machinery and material loads Valid Class A CDL w/ N endorsement, current Federal Medical card and satisfactory driving record Experience with various types of heavy equipment Some mechanical aptitude, training and/or experience Excellent communication skills, ability to work well with others and a working knowledge of all FMCSA regulatory rules. High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred Must be punctual and dependable Have the ability to work varied hours including nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed Be able to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions, and work in dirty and dusty environments Member of the appropriate trade union or willingness to become a union member are required. Under the direction of the Shop Foreman, a Mechanic Intern is responsible for the beginning stages of repair and maintenance of trucks, cars and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This will be a part-time position. Role and Responsibilities: Determines machine or vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures Corrects deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units Verifies proper performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems. Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repair logs Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; initiating repairs Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications Use mobile service truck to perform service calls on equipment in the field Performs other related duties as required and assigned The Candidate: Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in local tech schools, with a focus on Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Heavy Truck, or Diesel Engines.
