    We are currently seeking a Plant Manager for our Steel and Iron Foundry in Decatur, Illinois.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    Reporting directly to the Sr Vice President of Operations, the Plant Manager provides leadership and continuous improvement for the facility, people and processes. The position directs and leads the operation of the plant to insure the achievement of key metrics (Safety, Quality, OTD, and Cost). The plant manager will maintain effective working relationships with employees by promoting a positive work environment within the manufacturing areas, ensuring consistent application of company policies throughout areas of responsibility and communicating company's strategy and goals to all functional areas.

    TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

    SAFETY:

    Actively promotes safety to achieve safety incident rate at or below the goal (TBD in annual plan). Champion safety in plant. Actively monitor plant safety through the BBS process, walkthroughs and audits. Promotes safety and ensures that employees perform their tasks in a safe manner, which complies with applicable regulations and accepted best practices.Ensure OSHA compliance is adhered. Monitor trends and develop strategies. Oversee incident investigations, disseminate information to other plants and ensure correction actions are completed. Ensure training is completed timely and effectively. Ensure safety committee is empowered to identify and recommend corrective actions.

    QUALITY:

    Achieve cost of quality at or below the goal (TBD in annual plan) and maintain ISO certification. Ensure that all processes are defined, documented and communicated. Ensure all employees are following documented procedures. Ensure that quality defects are fully investigated and corrective actions are completed and documented. Liaise with customers to obtain feedback, clarify requirements / expectations and address concerns.

    ON-TIME DELIVERY:

    Achieve OTD at or above the goal (TBD in annual plan). Collaborate with Sales and Central Operations to establish committed delivery dates. Rigorously monitors project schedules. Ensure master scheduling is accurate and purchase parts are managed appropriately. Ensure communication between plants, departments and outside vendors to achieve delivery commitments. Promote an environment of continuous improvement.

    COST:

    Achieve cost objectives to include cost savings, budgeted margins and forecasted volume. Ensure budgets, capital and operating expenses are proposed and presented for approval in a timely fashion, achieved and promptly reported. Manage inventory levels and turns to meet objectives. Champion operational and process improvements.

    PEOPLE:

    Provide overall leadership to employees and foster a positive work environment to promote morale and employee engagement in the plant.Ensure that all plant employees are evaluated annually, and equitably. Coach and counsel employees to achieve high levels of performance. Review, develop and implement training strategies to ensure staff has the required skills, knowledge and competencies to support the business objectives. Foster an environment of transparent communication that results in high levels of respect, employee engagement and retention.

    ENVIRONMENTAL:

    Address the environmental objectives and aspects through the installation of a robust EMS system.Make continual improvements to EMS and report performance during CAR and Management Reviews.Ensure all environmental permitting, reporting and compliance obligations are current.Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies

    QUALITIFCATIONS:

    EDUCATION:

    Post-Secondary education in engineering or business degree is required.Master’s Degree preferred.

    FIELD OF EXPERIENCE:

    At least ten (10) years’ experience in a supervisory level position and managing a diverse team.Must have experience with manufacturing processes and knowledge of foundry processes (melt, green sand and no-bake molding, coremaking, etc.) is a plus.Must be experience in most or all of the following areas: LEAN principles and methodology, safety compliance, budget planning and cost control, profit and loss statements, and quality control management.Candidate must possess experience managing and leading a team including experience in staffing, training and development, coaching, and performance management, succession planning, employee retention and engagement. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.Must possess excellent negotiations, interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.Computer literate including Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets. SAP knowledge and/or experience would be an asset.

    PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; occasional standing and walking for your scheduled shift.Must remain stationary for extended periods and move throughout the building to access files.Must work effectively in a noisy environment.Ability to lift and move equipment or objects up to 20-25 pounds occasionally.Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Occasional travel required, involving walking, standing, sitting, and driving for varying durations.Site inspections required to identify and address safety concerns.Frequent use of hands and arms for dialling phones and using a computer mouse.

    salary:

    $125,000/year - $150,000/year, plus bonuses

    We are currently looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible to provide assistance to production crews in mechanical and machine operations, building and facilities and associated equipment. Preventative maintenance, ensuring spares availability, spares development, complete maintenance functions of all utilities like cranes, sand plant, compressors, grinders, cooling towers, heat exchangers, heat treatment furnaces, melting(induction) furnace, disamatic, dust collectors, shot blasting machines, machine tools and cooler classifier.


    Task and Responsibilities:

    Understand the operation of pneumatics, hydraulics and general mechanics.Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions, (AC & DC) under supervision.PM plant equipment mechanically and electrically.Build electrical control cabinets under supervision.Knowledge of PLC.Able to perform repairs on electronic equipment under supervision.Must be able to score above minimum required on the corporate maintenance technician test.Be able to use hand tools, welder, cutting torch and electrical meters.


    Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)

    High school diploma or GED required (preferred where applicable).Minimum of two (2) years of technical training or equivalent hands-on experience.At least one (1) year of mechanical experience, including hydraulics, electronics repair, or related applications.Forklift and overhead crane certification preferred.Four (4) years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical documents preferred.


    Physical Demands:

    Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of your required schedule shift.Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of your required scheduled shift.Regularly lift and carry 30–35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    The Controls Engineer’s primary focus will be to support, maintain, and improve industrial automation systems within our manufacturing operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, optimizing production performance, and supporting new and existing automation technologies across the facility.

    Safety:

    Comply with and enforces all Nortrak safety policies and regulations.

    Quality:

    Design, program, troubleshoot, and support PLC-based control systems.Develop, modify, and maintain HMI and control system interfaces.Diagnose and resolve electrical, automation, and control-related issues.Support commissioning, startup, and optimization of manufacturing equipment.Ensure control systems comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.Create and maintain technical documentation, schematics, and control narratives.

    On-Time Delivery:

    Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to reduce downtime.

    Cost:

    Support continuous improvement initiatives and automation upgrades.

    People:

    Must be able to work with production and maintenance personnel, vendors and other Nortrak plant personnel in a team-oriented environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS:


    EDUCATION:

    Bachelor’s Degree in a manufacturing related engineering field or equivalent experience.


    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:


    3+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing or automation environment.Experience with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens preferred).Knowledge of industrial networks, sensors, drives, and control devices.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Occasional off-shift or on-call support may be required.


    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    Experience with HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.Knowledge of VFDs, motion control, and machine safety systems.Experience supporting heavy industrial or manufacturing equipment.Exposure to commissioning and capital project support.

    We are looking for a Machine Operator to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    The Machine Operator is responsible to operate machines and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the proper cleaning and preparation of castings as stated in the OMS/process sheet; efficiently inspect finished work.

    Task and Responsibilities:

    Maintain and operate with hand and power tools like hydraulic benders, shears, punches, presses, saws, cold expansion tools, grinders, and Huckbolt tools.Perform inspections to eliminate spoilage.Clean up maintenance and machine area regularly.Read and follow the production schedule.Able to work with little supervision.Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.Perform other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands:

    Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.Regularly lift and move up to 20-25 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Hearing abilities related to job assigned.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the CNC Programmer is responsible for writing CNC Programmers, keep up with tool inventory and work with operators for feedback and edits.


    Task and Responsibilities:

    SAFETY:

    Make sure all programs operate in a manner that keeps all employees safe.Comply with all applicable safety policies and regulations, especially in manufacturing areas.Recommend process enhancements to improve quality, safety, and efficiency.Support installation verification and commissioning of machinery.


    QUALITY:

    Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining requirements.Create and modify CAD models from drawings as needed.Perform and maintain program documentation, revision records, and backup systems.Ensure all programs produce parts that meet specifications and tolerances.Collaborate with QA and production teams on inspection and validation processes.Maintains the tool system for stocking, tracking, usage and ordering of hand tools, carbide inserts and other small consumable tooling for the shop floor. Work with QA and production to ensure first article proof run is complete and within tolerances.Assists maintenance staff with installation verification, and commissioning of machinery.

    ON-TIME DELIVERY:

    Develop and maintain CNC programs (G-code) for milling and multi-axis machines.Release CNC programs in alignment with production schedules.Maintain the system to control all CNC programs to aid in the manufacture of recurring parts.

    FIELD OF EXPERIENCE:

    Three to five years experience in the engineering field.Experience working in a manufacturing environment an asset.Knowledge of materials & casting processes related to the company’s manufactured products Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis experience (NX Simcenter) preferred Detailed knowledge in CAD, preferably NX and MicroStationSAP knowledge would be an assetStrong interpersonal skillsDemonstrate strong and effective verbal and communication skills Must be able to work as a project team member Able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in an efficient manner

    TECHNICAL SKILLS:

    The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Familiar with Siemens Teamcenter and SAP would be an asset.

    PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; occasional standing and walking for your scheduled shift.Must remain stationary for extended periods and move throughout the building to access files.Must work effectively in a noisy environment.Ability to lift and move equipment or objects up to 20-25 pounds occasionally.Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Frequent use of hands and arms for dialing phones and using a computer mouse.
