    Job description: JOB TITLE: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN II DEPARTMENT: TREATMENT SUPPORTIVE PERSONNEL LOCATION (S): CARSON CITY, ELKO SUPERVISOR: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN III / CORPORATE MANAGEMENT JOB SUMMARY: A Behavioral Health Technician II, under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician III, works closely with consumers enrolled in the detoxification component, residential treatment for alcohol and drug abuse. Takes direction, is given assignments, and informed of any procedural changes by the Behavioral Health Technician III and company management assigned to supervise the various facilities. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Will remain on site (will not leave the building) and remain fully awake while on duty. · Will functions as a shift coordinator in the absence of Behavioral Health Technician III. · Facilitates on-shift staff and consumer compliance to policies and procedures and provides communication with supervisory and support staff. · Accurately reads and interprets vital signs, which includes reading a thermometer, taking blood pressure and pulse. Employees will be able to take vitals manually should equipment fail. · Ensures that consumers comply with Community Guidelines for Healthier Living. · Admits consumers to detoxification using set criteria. · Monitors and enforces assigned consumer chores. · Accurately records and reports consumer whereabouts, behaviors, medication received, and vital sign readings. · Responds to emergencies within the scope of training. · Conducts consumer admissions and discharges in accordance with set policies and procedures. · Conducts orientation of new consumers to the facility and room assignments. · Completes cleaning chores to include heavy cleaning assigned by supervisor. · Inventory supplies as needed. · Transportation of consumers to approved activities or appointments. · Performs clerical duties as required by supervisors. · CPR certification will be maintained as required. · Be familiar and follow the Code of Ethics as stated in NAC 641 C as provided during training. · Must comply with confidentiality requirements as set forth in CFR42 Part I & II and HIPAA regulations. · Able to work various shifts that are usually less than forty hours per week with additional time as required. · Will demonstrate responsible behaviors and exhibit role modeling skills for peers. · Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by the Behavioral Health Technician III and/or company management. · Will enter consumers information into the Electronic Health Record. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: · Must have one year as a Behavioral Health Technician at a Vitality Center facility. · Knowledge of substance abuse and related issues. · Exhibits good people skills, telephone techniques and communication skills. · Maintains certification as a Detoxification Technician as required. · Able to remain calm while under pressure. · Familiarity with de-escalation skills. · Problem solving abilities and adaptability to address varying consumer needs. QUALIFICATIONS: · A valid Nevada Driver License and proof of insurance. · Must have the ability to be self-motivated and perform independently. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to deal with people in distress. · The ability to collaborate with colleagues and community partners from other disciplines and referral sources. · Able to adhere to all privacy and confidentiality policies; and capable of using electronic health records. · Have the ability to follow up on all assigned tasks until completed. · Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of time. · Must consistently provide a negative drug screen from all illicit substances. · Must be 21 years or older. · Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Vitality Unlimited policies and procedures. · Must possess and show aptitude for following direction.     JOB SUMMARY: A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor works closely with clients entering treatment for any substance abuse and/or other addictive disorders. A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor conducts individual and group therapy sessions, documents and maintains patient files as required according to established Vitality Unlimited time frames. Promotes an environment conducive to patient adjustment and transition to healthier lifestyles. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts individual and group counseling sessions for clients. Assesses client attitudes and progress regarding treatment, family vocation, self- esteem, social adjustment, interpersonal relations, and coping skills. Documents and maintains accurate records as required by Vitality Unlimited and the Substance Abuse Prevention Treatment Agency (SAPTA). Ensure that the quality of substance abuse treatment services provided by the Vitality Unlimited programs as described by ASAM placement criteria. Documents client’s progress in ECW in a timely manner. Maintains clinical records, ensuring documentation according to SAPTA and Vitality Unlimited policies. Obtains signed consents for paper files. Ensures that assigned clients complete all phases of treatment by scheduled graduation date. Knowledge of social, medical, vocational, and legal resources availability. Develops treatment plans with patient input, reviews and amends as needed. Participates in client intake process and discharge planning. Interviews client’s family members. Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings and in-service training as scheduled. Develops materials for groups and lectures. Monitors clients to see that house rules and assigned chores are followed. Participates in crisis intervention as required. Schedules one (1) weekly individual counseling session per assigned patient (up to 10 clients) throughout treatment period. Is accountable to Program Manager or the Program Coordinator for treatment responsibilities. Takes on-call rotation as scheduled by the Program Coordinator or the Program Manager. Follows the Code of Ethics as stated in NAC 458. Complies with confidentiality requirements as set forth in CFR42 Part II and HIPPA regulations. Other duties as assigned. Meet with LADC supervisor weekly. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of Substance Abuse treatment and addictive behaviors. Familiar with State and community resources for alcohol and drug abuse. Must know the Vitality Unlimited patterns and disease concepts of alcoholism with studies in sociology, psychology, and related areas. QUALIFICATIONS: Must provide certification at time of employment. A valid Nevada Driver License and proof of insurance. Must have a clean driving record. Capable of responding to resident’s needs in a variety of situations. Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of time. Must consistently provide a negative drug screen. EDUCATION: At least five (5) years’ experience employed in counseling substance abusers, adult or adolescents, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to five years’ experience. Must be certified or licensed by the Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Counselors or must be eligible for licensure, certification, or internship. Must keep all requirements for CEUs (Continuing Education Units complete to keep certification or licensure current.
