Vision Life LLC is seeking reliable, compassionate, and skilled SLS Instructors (Support Staff) to provide one-on-one support to an adult client who is deaf and exhibits significant behavioral support needs. Staff will work as part of a coordinated team to promote safety, communication, and independence in the home and community settings.This position requires patience, professionalism, and the ability to manage challenging behaviors through consistency, empathy, and effective behavioral intervention strategies.
Schedule:
We are currently hiring for various weekday, weekend, and occasional overnight shifts to support a 24-hour care plan. Shifts include afternoon, evening, weekend daytime, and scheduled overnight coverage.
Consistent hours are available for candidates with flexible availability. Due to the structured behavioral support plan in place, reliability and schedule consistency are highly valued.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide individualized support following the clients Individual Support Plan (ISP) and behavioral intervention strategies.Communicate using American Sign Language (ASL) or other approved methods to ensure effective communication.Implement proactive behavior support and crisis intervention techniques as trained.Promote safety, structure, and positive engagement during all shifts.Assist with daily living skills, hygiene support, and household organization.Accompany the client in community outings, ensuring safety and social engagement.Complete daily service notes, incident reports, and documentation accurately and on time.Maintain professional communication with supervisors and team members.Model respectful, calm, and supportive behavior at all times in alignment with Vision Lifes standards and zero-tolerance policies.Qualifications & Requirements:
35 years minimum experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and high behavioral needsStrong understanding of behavioral intervention strategiesDemonstrated ability to de-escalate and redirect highly behavioral individualsExperience implementing Behavior Support PlansAbility to remain calm and therapeutic during crisis situationsAbility to communicate using ASL and home signs (required)Physically able to safely redirect and block when necessaryStaff Must Be Skilled In:
Crisis prevention and interventionEarly recognition of behavioral escalationSafe blocking and redirection techniquesFunctional communication prompting using gestures and signMaintaining structure and predictable routinesIdeal Candidate:
You are patient, firm, observant, and proactive. You understand that communication barriers can increase frustration and know how to use structured routines, visual supports, and calm redirection to prevent escalation.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for professionals who are confident working with high behavioral intensity and who prioritize safety, dignity, and consistency.
