As a Robotics Software Engineer at Viable Engineering Solutions, you will create libraries for interacting with Fanuc robots and a variety of devices/sensors, build UIs to enable customer utilization of our products, and build software solutions for customers.
Responsibilities:
Develop rapid prototypes and complete feasibility studiesTesting of all application development Develop graphical user interfaces using WPF and the MVVM design patternDevelop software focused on Fanuc robot communicationsDevelop libraries for interacting with external devices/sensors (e.g. IR/visual color cameras, laser profilometers, ultrasonic probes, PLCs, motor control systems, digital IO boxes, etc.)Work with or create tools for offline robotic arm path planning and collision avoidance Stereo vision image processing and laser profilometry for locating objects in 3D spaceDevelop processes for calibrating the location of various tools and objects inside of a robotic cellDetermine the feasibility and accuracy of using sensors or algorithms for performing certain tasks (e.g. determining the accuracy of a stereo camera setup's ability to locate an object, or how accurately a model predicts a robot's motion)Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering5+ years relevant experience required Proficiency with C# required Prior professional experience with object-oriented programming, .NET standards, and Dependency InjectionFamiliarity with other programming languages, such as C++ and PythonExperience with MVVM and WPFExperience with development tools, such as Visual Studio and GitKnowledge of linear algebra and trigonometry. Statistics is also preferredSome experience with robots (Fanuc robot arms or similar) desired. We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join our exciting team. As part of a small team, you will be responsible for the researching, planning, designing, programming, implementing and commissioning of our robotic systems. You'll see projects from cradle to grave, gaining full exposure to the multi-departmental decisions necessary for the commissioning of a project.
Duties
Project engineering: Under limited supervision, directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses within prescribed controls expenditures within limitations of project budget. Reviews project status and coordinates the modification of schedules or plans as required with the Project Manager. Prepares reports and records project activities.Implementation: Using knowledge of automated machinery and equipment, able to set up, operate, and troubleshoot machines, equipment, or systems to verify functionality, capabilities, and conformance to customer's requirements.Commissioning: Manage smooth commissioning of the project by coordinating between all stakeholders, approving commissioning plans and supervising onsite commissioning activities through the field service team in accordance with project guidelines. Outline procedures, norms and details for writing the Systems Manuals and update all documentation in the database.Programming: Develop and debug robot programs, using teach pendant, to ensure they operate correctly and efficiently. Program and integrate a variety or sensors and use simulation software to model and optimize robotic workflows before implementation. Concept Development: Researches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Develops preliminary design concept including layout and theory of operations using computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software.Qualifications
