    Be the Go-To Expert for Small Projects & Repairs

    Ideal Construction is seeking a skilled, versatile Construction Service Technician to support our growing small-project and service work across multifamily, commercial, residential, and property-managed facilities.


    This role is ideal for an experienced “jack-of-all-trades” professional who can assess repairs, perform quality work across multiple trades, and represent Ideal professionally on customer sites.


    You’ll operate independently in a company-provided service vehicle, completing a variety of repair and improvement tasks that help us serve clients quickly and reliably.


    What You’ll Do

    Position Summary

    The Installation Manager at Surfaces by GMI is responsible for overseeing and executing the professional installation of countertops, backsplashes, and sinks at residential and commercial job sites. This role combines hands-on installation with field leadership, ensuring projects are completed with precision, clean finishes, and a seamless client experience.


    The Installation Manager works closely with Project Managers, Design Consultants, and Shop Leads to ensure each project is installed accurately, efficiently, and to Surfaces by GMI’s quality standards. This is a detail-driven role where craftsmanship, leadership, and client experience matter.


    Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation Oversight & ExecutionInstall countertops (stone, solid surface, quartz, etc.) according to approved templates and specifications Install slab backsplashes with clean lines, proper spacing, and finished edges Perform scribing, cutting, and field adjustments to ensure a seamless fit Ensure all installations meet design intent, measurements, and finish expectations Lead and support installation team members on-site to ensure quality and efficiency Coordination & Problem-SolvingCommunicate with Project Managers and Shop Leads regarding site readiness, measurements, and install conditions Identify and resolve field issues while maintaining quality and timelines Coordinate with other trades on-site to support efficient installation sequencing Provide direction and support to installers to keep projects on track Quality & Final WalkthroughInspect completed installations for fit, finish, and functionality Complete final adjustments, touch-ups, and detailing prior to client review Participate in client walkthroughs to ensure satisfaction and address questions Ensure all work reflects Surfaces by GMI’s quality standards Jobsite Care & SafetyMaintain a clean, organized, and professional work area during and after installation Ensure team members protect client property using proper coverings and handling techniques Follow and enforce all safety guidelines and proper use of tools and equipment Required Skills & ExperienceExperience installing countertops, backsplashes, sinks, or similar finish materials (will train the right individual) Ability to read and execute from templates, shop drawings, and measurements Strong understanding of layout, leveling, fastening, and finish quality Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, adhesives, fasteners, and specialty installation equipment Comfort working in both residential and commercial environments Preferred AttributesHigh attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship Strong leadership presence with the ability to guide and support a team Professional, respectful communication with clients and teammates Dependability, punctuality, and strong work ethic Ability to work independently while staying aligned with the project team Commitment to delivering a clean, high-quality finished product Impact of This Role
