    Details:Status: Full-TimeSchedule: 0830hrs – 1700hrs; M-FLocation: On-Site, Aberdeen, MD 21001Supervisory: NoPosition Summary: The Accounting Assistant provides support to the Accounting department by performing a variety of financial and administrative tasks. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close activities. The position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal stakeholders.

    Key Roles/Duties:Prepare, process, track, and verify invoices, expense reports (ERs), and payment requests in accordance with (IAW) Company policiesSupport AP and AR functions, including data entry, payment processing, and follow-upsPerform routine account reconciliations, including bank and credit card statementsMaintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation and filing of accounting transactions into internal and external accounting systems (i.e. filing, organizing, assisting, etc.)Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll processing inside Deltek CostpointAssist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accrualsMonitor and track outstanding balances and assist with resolving discrepanciesPrepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and summaries for internal useRespond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding payments and/or financial transactionsEnsure compliance with internal controls, policies, and applicable regulationsSupport audits by gathering documentation and assisting with auditor requestsIdentify process improvement opportunities and assist in implementing efficienciesOther duties, as assignedBasic Qualifications:Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Four (4) + years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experienceFamiliarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (i.e., Deltek Costpoint, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)Demonstrated, strong experience with accounting software (i.e., Deltek Costpoint, SAP Concur, etc.)Strong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesStrong organizational and time management skillsDemonstrated, strong experience with Microsoft Office software applications and features of each application (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies independently and proactivelyPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or six (6) + years of demonstrated experienceExperience in government contracting or project-based accounting environments Prior experience supporting audits or financial reporting processesIntermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)Prior experience as a Buyer or in a purchasing/procurement roleTravel:Minimal, local travel less than 10% of the yearClearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a background check and/or security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified informationNo clearance required, but ability to obtain, if needed, requiredVeritech is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
