The Case Manager provides Child Support Services by managing a caseload to obtain results for customers that include but are not limited to establishing paternity and medical and child support court orders and ensuring that parents meet their financial obligations.
Primary Responsibilities
Analyze case information and take next steps pursuant to State policies and proceduresConduct interviews/collect DNA samples/negotiate consents/refer to community servicesPrepare legal documents and correspondence related to a caseWork state system prompts to keep case information current and support automated case actionsPerform annual reviews on assigned casesPerform initial locate activitiesTrack own performance through special reportsReceive, evaluate, and resolve customer problems and complaintsUpdate state system with appropriate new information and records detail of customer contactsTake all actions available to resolve customer concernsOther related duties as assigned#ZR
Requirements:Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certification preferredAt least two years of experience in legal environment or government case processing; public contact experience preferredEducation can be substituted for years of experienceDemonstrated ability to communicate, participate in a team management environment and commit to team and office goals and core valuesThis job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities or qualification associated with the position. The Attorney is responsible for the legal actions required in a designated caseload and represents the interests of the State Child Support Program in judicial and administrative hearings, including appeals, in a manner consistent with the provisions of the Code of Professional Responsibility. The Attorney works in collaboration with case managers and specialists, providing legal guidance to ensure actions are legally sufficient and meet State policy and procedural requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with members of the judiciary and court, State and County agencies, and community partner staffs.
• Attend and respectfully represent the State IV-D program in all judicial and, as directed by policy, administrative hearings involving Title IV-D cases.
• Provide legal advice and counsel on courses of action for child support enforcement in order to ensure fulfillment of contract requirements.
• Review consent agreements and other legal documents.
• Sign legal pleadings and prepare witnesses for hearings.
• Stay up to date on child support law and policy.
• Serve as an active team member to ensure a total quality approach.
• Other related duties as required.

Requirements:Qualifications
• Licensed attorney and member of the North Carolina Bar
• Experience practicing domestic relations and/or child support law is preferred
