Position Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing fiber and telecommunications construction projects from planning through completion. This role manages field operations, construction supervisors, subcontractors, and multiple crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has experience in fiber and underground telecommunications construction, strong leadership abilities, and a hands-on approach to solving field challenges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service when interfacing with clients and addressing escalated issues.Direct and coordinate the activities of multiple field crews and job sites.Manage construction projects from start to completion while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.Schedule crews, assign work, and monitor project progress against deadlines.Supervise construction supervisors and ensure work quality and production targets are met.Promote and enforce safe work practices while maintaining a strong safety culture.Review and interpret construction drawings, maps, blueprints, contracts, specifications, and bid documents.Identify and resolve design or blueprint issues prior to and during construction.Oversee subcontractor work, maintain subcontractor relationships, and ensure contractual compliance.Participate in project estimating, bidding, contract negotiations, and change order preparation.Report daily production and project updates to senior management.Participate in operational meetings with leadership, peers, and clients.Assist underground construction crews in the field from a supervisory perspective when necessary.Ensure all vehicles, equipment, and personnel under your supervision are managed responsibly.Implement and monitor quality control methods to ensure high-quality work.Provide recommendations for improving operational efficiencies and project quality.Participate in recruiting and hiring processes for field personnel.Occasional travel and weekend work hours. Perform other duties as assigned.Required Skills and Knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge of telecommunications construction industry standards.Strong understanding of underground fiber construction, including directional drilling, conduit installation, and cable placement.Experience with fiber splicing, coax splicing, and telecom network construction practices.Ability to read and interpret telecom design maps, prints, and engineering drawings.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in field construction environments.Proven ability to manage multiple projects, crews, and subcontractors simultaneously.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced construction environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project) and the ability to learn project management or custom telecom software.Strong attention to detail while maintaining productivity and efficiency.Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, ideally in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.3–5 years of experience managing telecommunications or fiber construction projects.Previous experience managing field operations and maintaining positive relationships with clients and suppliers.Strong understanding of underground telecom construction and fiber network deployment.Valid driver’s license required High school diploma or equivalent required.Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.Work Environment & Expectations

You are expected to be hands-on in the field, providing clear direction and serving as the critical link between field crews and Operations Management. This role requires strong communication, jobsite presence, planning, and the ability to manage both people and processes while maintaining Verita’s standards for safety, professionalism, and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Frontline Leadership & Crew Management
Supervise and direct field crews including operators, linemen, laborers, locators, and subcontractors.Conduct daily tailgate meetings to review safety expectations, daily goals, and jobsite conditions.Lead by example with professionalism, urgency, and attention to detail.Identify skill gaps and provide coaching, mentorship, and corrective guidance when necessary.Foster a strong team environment built on communication, respect, and accountability.Serve as the primary point of contact between field crews and Operations Management.Safety Compliance & Oversight
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, DOT, NESC, and state 811 regulations, as well as company and customer safety policies.Verify utility locates and dig tickets are valid before any excavation begins.Monitor proper use of PPE, fall protection, climbing gear, trench protection, and equipment safety procedures.Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and correct them immediately.Document and address all near misses, incidents, or hazards.Approve and submit daily safety documentation including JHAs and pre-job briefings.Enforce stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are present.Conduct a minimum of five field safety inspections per week.Jobsite Planning & Project Execution
Review construction prints, maps, permits, and work orders prior to mobilization.Plan and coordinate work activities to ensure efficient project execution and minimize downtime.Oversee field operations.Ensure all installations meet project specifications, required depths, and clearance requirements.Confirm proper traffic control and jobsite safety measures are in place at all times.Quality Control & Documentation
Perform ongoing jobsite inspections to verify workmanship and compliance with project standards.Inspect installed conduit, fiber, strand, vaults, hardware, tracer wire, and restoration work.Track and document production metrics such as bore footage, trench length, and aerial placement.Maintain accurate jobsite documentation including daily reports, safety logs, and production logs.Communicate field changes, redlines, or scope adjustments to management in real time.Productivity & Resource Management
Establish clear daily production goals and ensure crews are progressing toward them.Monitor labor, equipment utilization, and material usage to maintain job efficiency.Report material shortages, equipment issues, or permitting delays promptly.Coordinate with engineering, logistics, warehouse teams, and subcontractors to maintain project momentum.Construction Supervisors are expected to:

Review construction prints, maps, permits, and work orders prior to mobilization.Plan and coordinate work activities to ensure efficient project execution and minimize downtime.Oversee field operations.Ensure all installations meet project specifications, required depths, and clearance requirements.Confirm proper traffic control and jobsite safety measures are in place at all times.Quality Control & Documentation
Perform ongoing jobsite inspections to verify workmanship and compliance with project standards.Inspect installed conduit, fiber, strand, vaults, hardware, tracer wire, and restoration work.Track and document production metrics such as bore footage, trench length, and aerial placement.Maintain accurate jobsite documentation including daily reports, safety logs, and production logs.Communicate field changes, redlines, or scope adjustments to management in real time.Productivity & Resource Management
Establish clear daily production goals and ensure crews are progressing toward them.Monitor labor, equipment utilization, and material usage to maintain job efficiency.Report material shortages, equipment issues, or permitting delays promptly.Coordinate with engineering, logistics, warehouse teams, and subcontractors to maintain project momentum.Construction Supervisors are expected to:
