In this role you will work on observing research DOD research protocols for quality assurance adherence.     5.0. Background and Scope:

    The USAISR is part of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC). The USAISR is dedicated to both laboratory, pre-clinical, and clinical trauma research. Its mission is to provide requirements-driven combat casualty care medical solutions and products for injured soldiers from self-aid through definitive care across the full spectrum of military operations; provide state-of-the-art trauma, bum, and critical care to Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries around the world and civilians in our trauma region; and provide Burn Special Medical Augmentation Response Teams.


    The mission of the USAISR is Optimizing Combat Casualty Care. The USAISR accomplishes its mission through providing requirements driven innovative products and solutions in combat casualty care and, as the only Burn Center in the DoD, providing state of the art burn, trauma, and critical care to injured war fighters and DoD beneficiaries from around the world.

    The Vision of the USAISR is to be the world’s premier research organization enabling readiness and delivering evidence-based solutions for the optimal care of the combat wounded.


    5.1 Background

    The USAISR is increasingly called upon to provide expert services related to battlefield traumatic injury and to burn care. The objective of the Quality Management Division (QMD) is to support quality-driven scientific research by providing post approval monitoring and auditing activities for human/animal subject research for both Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and Non-FDA regulated trials. The Institute is currently funded to perform research to evaluate the most advanced and promising technologies using the most clinically relevant and stringent animal models possible, and the QMD provides monitoring and reviews of all research in the USAISR to ensure highest quality of research as well as compliance with all regulatory laws, policy, and directives.


    Responsibilities:

    6.0 QAS Duties:

    6.1 Key Task 1: Implement and maintain QA using written regulations, policies, and SOPs to ensure that studies are conducted, and data generated/documented/reported in compliance with the approved protocol.

    6.2 Key Task 2: Audit ongoing research protocols and conduct on-site surveillance of the human subject’s consenting process to ensure the investigators’ practice is in conformance with applicable laws, regulations, directives, policies, and ethical principles.

    6.3 Key Task 3: Follow up on corrective actions of noted deficiencies and compliance related issues to ensure that the correction plans are in place and on schedule.

    6.4 Key Task 4: Monitor that each study is performed in compliance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP)/Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)/Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and all other applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

    6.5 Key Task 5: Coordinate with investigators or other study personnel to conduct audits, prepare/maintain audit reports of ongoing research projects based on USAISR SOPs. Secure records of audits in one location for the length of time specified by regulations.

    6.6 Key Task 6: Review the final study report and documents to assure accurate disclosure of methods, SOPs and accurate reflection of raw data. Prepare a final audit statement that identifies the dates of inspections and the dates of when findings were reported to management IAW internal SOPs.

    6.7 Key Task 7: Routinely inspect/audit/observe systems of the study, processes (all operation required to conduct a study), procedures, such as personnel, equipment, SOPs and the laboratory.

    6.8 Key Task 8: Review each phase of the study, at appropriate intervals, to ensure the integrity of the study. Assist with continuing review reports and final reports to ensure thoroughness and completion of protocol.

    6.9 Key Task 9: Assist with the coordination, issuing, and annual review of investigators laboratory notebooks. Maintain an index of all notebooks issued at USAISR.

    6.10 Key Task 10: Assist with coordinating the completion of protocol closure and final report documents for research studies.

    6.11 Key Task 11: Provide training, as necessary, to USAISR personnel on a variety of topics such as those pertaining to research, quality improvement, documentation, techniques, FDA requirements, GCP, etc. Training shall be ad hoc sessions, small or individual sessions, didactic, hands-on, etc.

    6.12 Key Task 12: Comply with all DoD, U.S. Army, USAISR, and other Governmental regulatory requirements with special emphasis on safety and security. Contract personnel will be provided familiarization on USAISR orientation (directorate, department, location of fire extinguishers, fire alarms, egress during emergencies, and rally points).

    4.1. Degree/Education: Bachelors Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering or other life science or related field.

    4.2. Training: Must have completed training or experience in Good Laboratory Practice and Animal Care and Use Quality Assurance.

    4.3. Experience: Three years of experience working in life science laboratory using animal protocols. Two years of experience conducting Quality Assurance reviews is preferred.

    4.4. Computer Skills: Highly Experienced with SharePoint, Microsoft Office and G-Suite Applications.

    3.1 Hours: Normal workdays are Monday through Friday except U.S. Federal holidays. Contractors shall typically work eight (8) hours per day, forty (40) hours per week. USAISR's core hours of work are between the hours of 0800 to 1500 daily. Contractor is expected to be available during core hours. Lunch periods are a fixed duration (30, 45, 60 minutes), between 1100 to 1300. Contractor employees shall coordinate with their company supervisor and designated Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for those situations where Contractor is not able to be available during designated core hours from Monday through Friday.

    Venesco LLC is looking for a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach to join a multidisciplinary team to optimize soldier readiness and performance in the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) System. This Strength and Conditioning Coach is a leadership role on the H2F team where you would work with a very experienced group of professionals. In this role, you will onboard staff and guide the H2F team across the country providing best practices, etc. for strength and conditioning.


    The H2F System is the Army’s primary investment in Soldier readiness and lethality, optimal physical and non-physical performance, reduced injury rates, improved rehabilitation after injury, and increased overall effectiveness of the Total Army. The system empowers and equips Soldiers to take charge of their health, fitness, and well-being to optimize individual performance, while preventing injury and disease.


    The H2F concept is vastly different from a clinical setting. Most work will be performed in a military training environment (i.e. fitness centers/gyms, BDE/BN/CO or administrative areas, outdoors, ranges, field training environments, and at the SPRC). The ATs will be required to observe BDE and below (i.e. BN, CO, platoon, squad, team) specific training events (e.g., shooting range, obstacle courses, combatives training areas). Providing forward MSK care in the training environment, outside of the clinical setting minimizes lost training time and ensures early identification of injuries. Well-trained, combat-ready Soldiers are best produced by allocating healthcare assets that facilitate the early identification and management of MSK injuries, prevention of injuries, and optimization of physical performance.


    Soldiers perform repetitive physical tasks, such as, foot marching, drill and ceremony, rifle marksmanship, and repeated obstacle course circuits, resulting in a high number of overuse-type injuries. The types of injuries commonly seen in the Army are very similar to those commonly seen in athletics, including sprains, strains, tendonitis, and stress fractures. AT services as part of a H2F Performance Team will provide forward MSK care, increase physical resiliency, perform early intervention, and performance optimization services, for designated installation/BDE sites.


    Responsibilities of the Strength and Conditioning Coach:

    Understand and communicate necessary actions required to establish and administer effective strength and conditioning training programs designed to maximize the physical performance and reduce the risk of MSK injuries of BDE personnel.The SCC shall complete the specific tasks in the PWS. SCC shall perform services IAW the NSCA as a CSCS or the SCCC through the CSCCA Scope of Practice.Collaboratively work with interdisciplinary HIT and BDE H2F Performance Team to:Educate and train beneficial approaches to Soldier readiness and care in a holistic, interdisciplinary fashion.Instruct and adjust the physical training approach into and around the Soldier’s health, the BDE mission and the training calendar by adjusting timing and intensity of care into the battle rhythm of the unit.Ensure understanding of the importance of the Soldier as an integrated member of the BDE and how by providing strength and conditioning coaching within the brigade area and sustaining direct contact with other members of the brigade enhances unit cohesion.Teach how to establish influence and build beneficial relationships to further advocate for the H2F team and promote to unit leaders the best approaches to unit readiness.Participate in in-person or virtual pre-implementation planning meetings with the HIT and BDE representatives to prepare strength and conditioning specific plan based on unit assessment for the implementation site visit.Disseminate prerequisite information/tasks for BDE leaders and the BDE H2F Performance Team. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, pre-briefs with unit representatives, unit data analysis, content verification, and BDE culture/history review.Based on needs assessment of unit, create additional or modify existing H2F implementation content. Content to be approved by Government prior to use.Attend implementation site visits with the HIT to deliver standardized H2F implementation plan, and to optimize the BDE H2F Performance Team’s execution within the framework of the unit’s training/operational schedule, battle rhythm, and culture.Participate in post-implementation meetings with the HIT and BDE representatives to reinforce, supplement, and clarify H2F System standards and practices following the implementation site visit.Participate in virtual H2F implementation and support programming to support COMPO 1/2/3 units. · Participate in periodic meetings with the HIT PD and other HIT team members to provide a report on H2F System implementation efforts related to physical training program and recommendations/feedback on to enhance Soldier/unit progression.
