    Job Description:
    The Field Technician performs all aspects of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and testing on rail cars processed through the Field Site (Coney Island) and other designated locations. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to work independently, and the leadership skills to guide other technicians during assignments.

    Key Responsibilities:Perform troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and functional testing of rail cars at the Yonkers facility or remote sites.Utilize standard hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, etc.) and basic test equipment, including multi-meters and PC-based systems.Read and interpret piping diagrams, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and electrical schematics.Conduct testing on a variety of systems, which may include HVAC, Brakes, Propulsion, Communication systems, Toilet systems, Trainline systems, Sign systems, Automatic Train Control systems, Hipotential tests, Wiring continuity tests, Pneumatic leakage tests, Dynamic tests, & Burn-in tests.Support the engineering team on special engineering tests when required.Interact directly with customers, clearly communicating work status, intent, and results.Complete all required test documentation, reports, and related records accurately and on time.Operate with minimal direct supervision, taking the lead on assignments and guiding Function Test Technicians or Rail Car Technicians as needed.Initiate vendor, engineering, or manufacturing support requests when necessary, reporting results or escalation needs to the supervisor.Enter discrepancies into the KRC database system and ensure accurate time reporting to the supervisor.
    Required Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or associate degree in engineering preferred.Previous experience in the electrical or mechanical testing field.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.Proficient in the use of basic hand and power tools, as well as specialized testing equipment such as multi-meters, chart recorders, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and portable test equipment (PTE) for data download and analysis.Skilled in troubleshooting using downloads, schematics, and manuals, with the ability to analyze data and prepare clear, accurate, and professional reports.Proficiency in the English measurement system, with the ability to learn the Metric system within a designated timeframe.Proficient in Microsoft Office and other industry-related software applications.Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal personnel.Capable of working independently, leading tasks, assisting other technicians, and meeting deadlines under pressure.Comfortable working in rail yard environments and in all weather conditions, indoors and outdoors.Able to work flexible hours and shifts, including extensive travel for business or field assignments.Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders, and to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.Valid U.S. driver’s license required (copy of front and back to be provided).

Support configuration management and quality audits Develop solutions to problems of moderate scope and complexity, using guidance from company policies and procedures.
    Required Qualifications:Experience using a Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database Good computer skills with MS Office suite to prepare appropriate metrics, reports and documents Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Attention to detail, coupled with good time management and organization skills Sound interpersonal skills for interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliersDoD experience preferred • PTC Windchill experience preferredTechnical Associate's Degree or 4 years Configuration Management experience.
