    About the Role:

    U.S. Pipe is seeking a 3rd shift Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment/machinery is functioning properly and performing routine preventative maintenance of equipment system prioritizing work based on need. The Maintenance Technician will perform routine adjustments and calibrations to machinery and will follow up with a Production Technician on any diagnostics needed to perform a needed repair.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Receives instructions or participates in team decisions regarding scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection tasks.Inspects plant equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc. and repairs such defects.Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, adjusts, and lubricates all plant mechanical equipment and machinery.Performs preventive maintenance tasks to maximize effectiveness of plant equipment.Perform precision maintenance duties.Fabricate and weld for projects, routine maintenance jobs, emergency jobs, etc.Interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, etc.Makes and seals various types of joints such as expansion, flange, nipple, coupling, union, lead wiped, soldered, flared, caulked, banded, and welded. Installs gaskets, packing, and tests joints for leaks or tightness.Tests, inspects, dismantles, repairs, replaces, or installs any type of high or low-pressure piping, tubing, fittings, fixtures and parts for the installation, maintenance and repair of pipelines for air, water, steam, oils, gases, acid, and caustics.Ability to troubleshoot, repair, install, etc. hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.Utilize a CMMS to obtain work orders, document information, close work orders, etc.Keeps work area in a neat and orderly condition and performs all work in a safe and efficient manner.Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor.Cleans all work areas.

    Qualifications:

    About the Role:

    U.S. Pipe is seeking a Technical Resource Engineer to join our team. This position responsibilities will include consults with owners, owner’s representatives (consulting engineers), and customers regarding technical matters concerning product application, construction specifications, installation procedures, customer complaints, and other services required to promote the company’s products and maintain the end user’s satisfaction.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Drives specification inclusion and product promotion through presentations to engineers, municipalities, contractors, and owners.Supports the sales staff.Performs field investigations on an as needed basis of customer complaints when the company’s product fails to meet the customer’s expectations making recommendations as to remedial action required to resolve the source of the dissatisfaction. Recommendations are also made concerning financial settlements on customer damage claims.Consults with owners and owner’s representatives concerning the proper application of the company products and assists in drafting project specifications incorporating ANSI, AWWA, ISO and other applicable standards. Assists in design of product systems to meet specific project needs incorporating ANSI, AWWA, DIPRA, ISO, and other applicable design procedures. This consultation may involve corrosion affects and prevention of the company’s products.Consults with customers (including distributors, contractors, and owner’s personnel) on proper application, assembly, and installation of the company’s products. Trains installation personnel in the proper assembly and installation techniques.Meets with owner’s personnel to discuss failures of the company’s products to meet performance expectations and participates in mutual resolutions to achieve the owner’s expectations.Consults with various company department heads and advises on service and product shortcomings effecting remedial action as required.

    Qualifications:

    Requires a BS in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical preferred).Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate preferred, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or ability to obtain).Waterworks or Public Utilities experience.Possess problem solving skillsRequires good verbal, written and presentation skills. Must have the ability to apply standard engineering principles to situations and be able to develop solutions incorporating available products and procedures to minimize customer work stoppage in an economical manner.     U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking talent to join our Operational Excellence Team as a Process Engineer. This position will provide support to the Alabama Works manufacturing facility. Primary focus is on developing and standardizing the melting, casting, and pipe processing procedures that ensure quality product and reduce risk to the employee, environment, or customers. Emphasis will be on analyzing and modifying processes to improve quality and throughput. Ability to work with Operations, Quality and Procurement to test new processes and materials that improve efficiency, quality and cost in the ductile iron pipe making process.

    Specific Responsibilities:

Monitors, reviews, and evaluates daily, weekly and monthly production, cost, and material usage data, identifies problems, and implements corrective actions.Coordinates scheduling activities with the Scheduling Department. Directs, trains, counsels and advises subordinates in the solving of problems, work assignments and action to be taken. Answer grievances and hold grievances meetings as needed. This position will observe confidentiality of all customer and company information. Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding new processes, equipment, products and services.     Skills and Qualifications:

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Receives wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done.Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment to determine material or replacement needs and to select a logical approach to “trouble shooting” and repair problems.Plans details of working procedure to affect the most logical approach to the job. Considers all safety precautions and the proper isolation of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations.Determines necessary tools and equipment.Plans and performs work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment.Locates source of trouble of any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation.Dismantles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, or replaces faulty parts, wiring on motors, generators, motors, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc. Reassembles, tests, and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation.     Job Description:

    U.S. Pipe is seeking a 2nd shift Quality Assurance Supervisor in Bessemer, Alabama. The primary purpose is to execute the quality plans as developed, ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) remains compliant through auditing, develop & lead the internal audits at the Alabama Works, manage the Corrective Action Response Process, train supervisors on the QMS. Other primary functions will include but not limited to internal audits, creating action items, following up to completion of actions items, implementing preventive measures, etc.

    Essential Functions:

    Ensures that the products furnished to customers comply with company, industry, national and/or international standards and special customer requirements by developing and leading internal audits at the Alabama Works and to audit procedures and work instructions.Audit the mechanical property testing of manufactured product to ensure compliance with ISO, industry and Federal standards and regulations. Ensure maintenance of all test and inspection equipment.Responsible for reporting to the management team the status of the quality management system including audit findings, corrective actions, and follow-up activities. Responsible for assisting in the investigation and reporting on customer complaints.Ensure that employees and supervisors are properly trained on the QMS.Serves as a representative for on-site customer visits and inspections.Reviews nonconforming products to determine final status and recommend rework as required.Responsible for the audits of raw materials, processes, procedures, to confirm the compliance with ISO, AWWA, internal specifications of materials as well as include working with 3rd party to test materials.Work in a group setting to create, track, and complete corrective actions.Participate and lead 3rd party internal audits.Implement preventive measures to ensure compliance to AWWA, ISO, and internal standards.Issuing and monitoring non-conformance reporting for products and/or processes from internal and external audits.Supervise Chemical Lab as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

    Skills and Other Requirements:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, and/or related field is preferred. A minimum of 2 - 5 years of quality assurance/control experience in a fast-paced heavy union or non-union manufacturing environment and advanced knowledge of, and experience in quality management systems is desired.     About the Role:

    U.S. Pipe is seeking a Cold Side Manager for our U.S. Pipe plant in Bessemer, Alabama. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting and ensuring that pipe is processed according to manufacturing and quality specifications and in a cost effective and efficient manner.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Responsible for managing and directing the production of pipe annealing and processing with direct management responsibilities over Annealing, Processing, Cement Linin, Packaging and Zincing. Ensures that all work activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner and assures optimum production with maximum productivity, highest quality, and lowest costs. Uses RCA thinking where there are gaps to the target process condition. Directs and supervises the work of Supervisors in Pipe Run, Zinc, Annealing, Cement Lining, Packaging, LD Processing. Assigns work to the CI resources assigned to the Cold Side of the Plant. Works in consensus with the Hot Side and 2nd Shift Superintendents. Assists direct reports in evaluating the efficiency of working procedures, manpower utilization and cost control measures. Makes recommendations and implements actions to achieve objectives. Monitors, reviews, and evaluates daily, weekly and monthly production, cost, and material usage data, identifies problems, and implements corrective actions. Coordinates scheduling activities with the Scheduling Department. Advises Plant Manager immediately of significant maintenance or production problems causing or having the potential to cause delays or shutdowns to operations and works expediently toward a resolution to the problem. Ensures that the plant is maintained in a neat and orderly condition. Directs, trains, counsels and advises subordinates in the solving of problems, work assignments and action to be taken. Answers grievances and hold grievances meetings as needed. Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding new processes, equipment, products and services. Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Management. This position will observe confidentiality of all customer and company information

    Skills and Qualifications:

    A minimum of 5 -8 years of experience with the knowledge and understanding of ductile iron pipe making processes such as casting, melting, or annealing, as well as 3-5 of those years being in supervisory or managerial positions. A BS degree in an applicable field, Engineering, Management, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent is preferred (not required). Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma a plus. Some formal training and experience in a problem-solving protocol is recommended. Read Less

    Job Description:

    U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Safety Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing company safety policies and continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous safety and health conditions to maintain a safe work environment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Conduct safety training within the department for all shifts including Daily Safety Huddles, Weekly Single Points, Monthly Safety Meeting and EHS Alerts.Conduct regular safety and housekeeping audits within the department.Discuss findings from audit with both Department Supervisor and Safety.Work with Safety to ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.Perform safety walks throughout the shift and observe performance of job tasks to ensure safe job procedures are being followed.Counsel employees on safe job procedures when necessary.Report observations to Safety.Participation in New Hire Orientation.Work with Supervisors on periodic reviews of JSA’s, LOTO procedures and Hazard Analysis within the departmentProvide input to Safety on improvements/additions to training for new hires/transferring employees.

    Skills & Other Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental is preferred.Graduate Safety Practitioner -BCSP Certified is preferred.3-5 years of safety experience outlining and implementing programs regarding employee safety procedures, practices, and accident prevention in a heavy manufacturing industry.Current OSHA 30 or OSHA 10 Certified.Confined Space training.First Aid CPR Trained.
