Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant) – General Urology
Position Summary
Urology Associates is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to work collaboratively with a supervising physician in a fast-paced clinical environment. The APP will provide comprehensive care to adult urology patients in both outpatient clinic and procedural settings while supporting efficient patient flow and high-quality patient outcomes.
This position requires excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage a high patient volume independently and efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including history and physical examinations
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic urologic conditions under physician supervision
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physician
• Order, interpret, and review laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures
• Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice and competency
• Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and procedures
• Manage follow-up care for surgical and medical urology patients
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Assist with coordination of care, referrals, and authorizations as needed
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and practice development
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, medical assistants, and administrative personnel
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and organizational regulations and policies
Preferred Clinical Experience
Experience in the following areas is preferred:
• Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
• Overactive bladder and urinary incontinence
• Kidney stone management
• Elevated PSA and prostate cancer surveillance
• Testosterone deficiency
• Recurrent urinary tract infections
• Men’s health
• Catheter management and voiding dysfunction
• Pre-operative and post-operative urologic care
Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current Tennessee NP or PA license in good standing
• DEA license and prescriptive authority as applicable
• Board certification required
• Minimum of 1–2 years of APP experience preferred; urology experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with supervising physician
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• EMR experience required

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Ability to assist with clinical procedures
• Ability to lift and move supplies and equipment as needed

This position requires excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage a high patient volume independently and efficiently. This position also requires travel to our office locations through Middle Tennessee on a scheduled basis.
