    The Occ Med Assistant is a Medical Assistant that in addition to their regular Medical Assistant responsibilities will also complete supplemental Occ Med duties for their clinic during their regularly scheduled clinical hours. The Occ Med assistant will perform important tasks in support of patient care, and are therefore an integral part of successful health outcomes and efficient Occ Med workflows. Please note, the items listed below are not all-inclusive of the standards expected in the position.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    Work as Medical Assistant to complete weekly Occ Med appointments and all follow up work as needed

    Complete all Occ Med scanning into EMR; results to be in system within 24 hours of visit

    Send Occ Med results to employers per protocol

    Work with all Occ Med patients on Clockwise/scheduling queue. Work together as a team, but own your queue of Occupational Medicine visits.

    Ensures appointments are set correctly on schedule, and that all necessary Authorization Forms or protocols are being appropriately followed.

    Assistant will ensure a smooth Occ Med workflow; getting Occ Med appointments in and through the clinic with the least amount of disturbance and wait time.

    Tasked with scheduling follow ups or return visits for patients.

    Assists with communication between clinics, clients, and Sales Department team & managers

    Serve as a point person to reach out to clinics when results are not received or need changes.

    Assists in training of staff for new Occ Med accounts where new forms/tests are being performed

    Operates within established parameters and influences development and/or decisions regarding new policy or guidelines. Must exhibit authority within scope of responsibility and requires innovation/tenacity to improve internal processes.

    Be the right hand to our providers — assist in procedures and deliver exceptional care

    Own the triage process: take vitals, assess needs, and help patients feel at ease

    Show off your clinical skills: draw blood, give vaccines, run drug screens, and set up EKGs like a pro

    Dive into occupational health services and physicals — from start to finish

    Keep patient records sharp and up-to-date in our EMR system (we use Experity)

    Keep the clinic humming by stocking supplies and prepping equipment

    Make sure everything’s running smoothly with daily checks on meds, supplies, and sterilization logs

    Be a key communication bridge — help patients get the info they need, fast

    Flex your versatility by jumping in at the front desk when needed (scheduling, check-ins, insurance)

    Be ready for anything — pitch in where needed and grow while doing it!

    Equipment Calibration:

    Occ Med Assistant will follow selected Calibration Schedule report and ensure the following equipment is calibrated on a regular schedule basis

    Document Calibration schedule & results in Calibration Report

    Work to communicate any needed Occ Med supplies in clinic.

    Communicate any issues or abnormalities on POs to Sales Managers for prompt attention

    Report any issues and possible errors to Clinic Manager and Occ Med Sales Manager.

    Equipment Calibration needed: ie. Spirometry/EKG, Audio, BAT, Grip Strength, Pinch, Push/pull other Occ Med equipment as added)

    Full-Time ~40 hours/week.

    Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

    Prepare reports and correspondence related to claims, and escalate complex issues to the Worker's Compensation Manager or legal team as needed.

    Support audits and investigations by providing accurate claim documentation and responding to inquiries.

    Collaborate with human resources and safety teams to promote injury prevention and return-to-work programs.

    Secondary Functions:


    Answer questions, transfer calls to providers and clinics if appropriate, and facilitate new and rescheduling of appointments using our EMR.

    Coordinate work with the Clinic as appropriate.

    Delegate work to Clinic Front Desk staff as appropriate and with approval of Clinic Managers.




    Minimum Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.

    Experience in administrative support or claims processing, preferably within worker's compensation or insurance environments.

    Basic knowledge of worker's compensation laws and healthcare terminology.

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using claims management software.

    Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Certification in Worker's Compensation or related field (e.g., Certified Work Comp Professional).

    Experience working in the healthcare or social assistance industry.

    Familiarity with state-specific worker's compensation regulations and reporting requirements.

    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders.

    General Position Summary:

    Radiology Technologist Instructor and Compliance Overseer manages all aspects of the X Ray program at the AFC Portland / Vancouver Group of clinics. The key responsibilities are divided into 3 main areas:

    Xray/Imaging ComplianceShepherd the AFC LXMO education program & new graduates comp requirementsProvide technical coaching and supervision to the AFC LXMO/RT team

    Imaging compliance responsibilities entail creating and maintaining standardized radiology compliance for all clinics and ongoing supervision of the LXMO/ARRT staff’s technical skills. Overall compliance responsibilities include items like ensuring that all clinic’s X-ray manuals are up to date, manuals meet or exceed federal compliance standards, all X-ray staff are routinely audited for quality assurance, and that an ongoing internal training program is developed and executed on for current X-ray staff.

    The AFC LXMO education program is an OBMI approved program to train AFC employees to be able to fulfill the requirements for obtaining an LXMO license in Oregon. The position will lead and coordinate the coursework and lab for this course.

    Occasionally, this position may be called upon to assist with imaging in one or more of the clinics. This involves providing clinical support to our providers by assisting with patient’s needs and obtaining diagnostic information via operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs. The Rad Tech will also assist patients at registration and in the clinic rooms to ensure an optimal patient experience.
