    Position Overview:

    University Vision Centre is seeking a Front Office Coordinator / Patient Services Representative to be the first point of contact for patients. This role is critical in creating a positive patient experience while managing scheduling, insurance verification, and front desk operations. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Greet patients and create a welcoming, professional first impressionSchedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments across multiple locationsVerify insurance eligibility and benefits (VSP, EyeMed, medical insurance, etc.)Check patients in and out efficiently and accuratelyCollect co-pays, balances, and process paymentsAnswer phones and assist with patient inquiriesMaintain accurate patient records in the EMR systemCoordinate patient flow to support doctors and clinical staffHandle administrative tasks including filing, scanning, and documentationAssist with resolving patient concerns in a professional manner

    Qualifications

    Strong customer service and communication skillsPrevious experience in a medical office, optometry, or front desk role preferredExperience with insurance verification (vision and/or medical) preferredComfortable using computers and learning new software systemsOrganized, detail-oriented, and able to multitaskReliable and professional demeanorHigh school diploma or equivalent required

    Key Responsibilities

    Perform comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessmentsDiagnose and manage ocular disease and refractive conditionsPrescribe glasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction solutionsUtilize diagnostic technology and imaging equipment to support clinical decisionsCollaborate with optometric technicians, scribes, and optical staff to ensure efficient patient flowEducate patients on eye health, treatment plans, and preventive careMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using a virtual scribe systemProvide high-quality, ethical, and patient-focused eye care

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry programLicensed or license-eligible in the state of Texas (current licensure preferred but not required)Open to new graduates and experienced optometristsStrong clinical judgment and commitment to excellent patient careComfortable learning new technology and clinical systems (training provided)Ability to work collaboratively as a team player in a fast-paced clinical setting
