Position Title: Administrative Assistant Job Category: University Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Administrative Assistant II Job Duties: The Disability Resource Center Administrative Assistant provides administrative support for the Disability Resource Center and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Disability Resource Center Front Office. Under the supervision of The Disability Resource Center Director, the Disability Resource Center Administrative Assistant oversees the front office area and is the first point of contact for people visiting The Disability Resource Center. As the co-supervisor for student workers in the office, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for training, scheduling, and assigning job duties in coordination with other staff members. Contact with students, faculty, staff, parents, and others is required of the Administrative Assistant as part of the regular daily duties of the position. The work of the Disability Resource Center directly affects student success, retention, and enrollment management at UWL. Physical Demands: * Work performed is subject to extended periods using standard office equipment such as a computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse) inputting, reviewing and retrieving information; extended periods of viewing a monitor or screen; and using printer, fax, calculator, copier, and telephone. * Work performed is subject to extended periods of sitting and standing and may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. * May require travel between campus offices and/or travel to off-campus locations. * May be required to lift or carry up to 40 lbs. Key Job Responsibilities: (75%) DIRECT PATIENT CARE: * Provide patient care nurse visits utilizing standing orders with support from a licensed provider, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, interventions, and evaluation. Examples include urinary tract infection, emergency contraception, acute pharyngitis, allergy injection, upper respiratory infection, STI screening/treatment, etc. * Provide health education based on evidence-based practice resources and best practice guidelines. * Administer medications and injections per standing order or provider order. Monitor for reaction and document in the electronic medical record. * Obtains lab specimens per standing order or provider order such as rapid strep, drug screens and urine specimens. Cross trained to perform CLIA waived testing and phlebotomy. * Provide in-person and phone triage services for patients who walk-in, call, or contact the Student Health Center electronically. * Educate patients on how and when to use the health care delivery system and how to identify personnel resources. * Document interactions as part of the permanent medical record including patient symptoms, education given, and disposition plan for the individual. * Initiates and provides emergency care as needed, including intravenous therapy. * Demonstrates ability to remain calm in stressful, urgent situations. * Performs and covers front desk duties as needed. * Meets needs of providers in assigned clinic area when needed with rooming and assisting with appointments. Anticipates needs of medical provider based on evaluation of patient schedule and reason for visit. Prepares patient and exam room accordingly and assists medical provider in appointment as needed. Examples include: Rooms patients, collects vitals and patient history according to standards. Performs peak flows and oximetry. Performs nebulizer treatments and/or other clinical procedures. Cleans exam room and equipment, cupboards and restocks exam rooms as needed. (10%) OTHER DUTIES * Participate in student programs and events on campus representing the Student Health Cetner. * Serve as a resource person for other clinic and community personnel and agencies, including public health. * Serve as a preceptor for new staff and students seeking clinical experiences. * Maintains accreditation standards for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for assigned chapter(s). * Completes a quality study, when requested, which demonstrates quality improvement according to the AAAHC standards. * Participates in the registered nurse peer review process and oversees the peer review process for other clinical staff members. * Coordinates and participates in delivering influenza clinics, Tuberculosis testing clinics, and other outreach health services as deemed necessary. * Reviews and updates nursing protocols, standing orders, policies and procedures on an annual basis and as needed. * Coordinates annual staff education and compliance with Bloodborne pathogens, Infection prevention and others as assigned. * Supports the Division of Student Affairs strategic priorities and the mission of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. * Other duties as assigned. (15%) INDIRECT PATIENT CARE * Provide leadership with facilitation of clinic efficiency and effectiveness by working collaboratively with other team members. Recommend and implement changes that result in improved clinic functioning and best practices of care. * Serve in a leadership role coordinating the daily operations with other clinical staff. * Provide direct supervision of student staff (certified nursing assistants) which includes development of the onboarding program, employee performance, and scheduled hours based on clinic need. * Responsible for maintaining the ordering, inventory, and stocking of the medication dispensary formulary. * Responsible for ordering pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and other medications needed for clinical operations. * Provide consultation to licensed practical nurse, certified medical assistant(s), and certified nursing assistant(s)s to ensure best practice. * Demonstrate ability to use critical thinking and good decision making. Department: Student Health And Wellness (SHAW) - Medical Center Compensation: * Starting at $65,000 commensurate with experience * Pay is based off .80 FTE (actual pay based off FTE: $52,000) Required Qualifications: * Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) * Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Wisconsin or Nurse Compact License * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification or the ability to obtain within 1 month of start date.
