GENERAL SUMMARY:
An OR Technician / OB Technician (ORT/OBT) is a member of the WCC surgical team who acts as a primary scrub person and must be technically adept by handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary before, during and after the surgical procedure / vaginal delivery. He/She may also circulate under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The ORT/OBT must be able to take call as scheduled, anticipate the needs of the surgeon, have excellent adaptation and coping skills, have excellent organizational skills and be a team player. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift patient and equipment with assistance of other personnel or without as need dictates. ORT/OBT must have excellent communication skills and maintains asepsis, supplies and inventory at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Graduate of a surgical technology school with certification obtained within 12 months from graduation OR proof of one year of employment as a surgical technician within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015. OR a currently Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
3. Meets requirements of pre-employment screening and physical.
4. Excellent attendance record required.
5. Possess basic windows knowledge.
6. Must be able to take call as scheduled.

Nights - Full Time Days - Full Time Part Time - 28 weekly hours (Day), 32 weekly hours (Day) and 12 weekly hours (Night) No Per Diem"As a nurse on the Progressive Care Unit, you can care for a wide range of moderately complex patients between two unique units, R3/R4. PCU provides advanced monitoring with sophisticated equipment, intensive treatments, and a team approach to promote wellness through assessment, monitoring, and education in critically ill patients. The Progressive Care nurse primarily treats patients with the following diagnosis: compromised airway requiring intensive respiratory therapy, controlled infusion of antiarrhythmic or vasoactive IV drug therapy, acute poisoning, suicide attempts, multisystem failure, neurologic abnormalities, metabolic crisis, multiple trauma, chest pain, myocardial infarction, heart failure, hemodynamic instability, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, post-anesthesia care, mechanical ventilation, cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia analysis, thrombolytic therapy, GI bleeding, internal/external pacing, electrical cardioversion, acute dialysis (peritoneal, hemodialysis) and post-cardiac arrest. Nights - Full Time Days - Full Time Part Time - 28 weekly hours (Day), 32 weekly hours (Day) and 12 weekly hours (Night) No Per Diem"As a nurse on the Progressive Care Unit, you can care for a wide range of moderately complex patients between two unique units, R3/R4. PCU provides advanced monitoring with sophisticated equipment, intensive treatments, and a team approach to promote wellness through assessment, monitoring, and education in critically ill patients. The Progressive Care nurse primarily treats patients with the following diagnosis: compromised airway requiring intensive respiratory therapy, controlled infusion of antiarrhythmic or vasoactive IV drug therapy, acute poisoning, suicide attempts, multisystem failure, neurologic abnormalities, metabolic crisis, multiple trauma, chest pain, myocardial infarction, heart failure, hemodynamic instability, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, post-anesthesia care, mechanical ventilation, cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia analysis, thrombolytic therapy, GI bleeding, internal/external pacing, electrical cardioversion, acute dialysis (peritoneal, hemodialysis) and post-cardiac arrest. PCU nurses are encouraged and supported for professional growth with committee commitments, education seminars, certifications, advancement in degree, LEAD, preceptor course, and within-department education."
On-call: Not required
Incentives: $10K RN Sign-On Bonus for full-time (pro-rated for part-time). Differentials - evenings $3.00, nights $4.00 and weekends $3.25. Up to $9,200 in relocation assistance.
