    The University of Missouri's School of Medicine, Department of Neurology is expanding and searching for a full-time Physician Assistant join our growing Neurology inpatient services. This is an excellent career opportunity for candidates to join a thriving academic neurology department.
    As a Comprehensive Stroke Center and premier referral hub for the surrounding 22 counties and beyond, we offer a rich array of challenging and exciting cases. Working alongside residents and attending physicians, we foster a team-based approach to patient care with thriving clinical and educational opportunities.

    Job Details and Responsibilities:

    Our team is comprised of 20 neurologists, 14 neuroscientists, and several advanced practice providers
    Work independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide care to neurological patients in an inpatient setting.
    Communicate with physicians about changes in patients' clinical conditions, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
    Respond quickly and accurately to changes of conditions.
    Perform treatments and interventions; conduct teaching and counseling of patients and families; and facilitate clinical research.
    Also requires basic computer skills; problem solving, willingness and ability to learn new skills and methods; ability to perform the range of duties in a variety of work settings.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry.

    Qualifications

This position will provide medical care at the Digestive Health Clinics, with a focus on patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

    The Department offers outstanding facilities and a dedicated team of physicians, scientists, nurses and staff members committed to advancement in terms of scientific achievement, clinical service and medical education in 10 core divisions.

    Duties include but are not limited to:
    -Independently provide professional medical support for Gastroenterology patient care.
    -Collaborate with physicians and hospital staff to promote team-based patient care.
    -Coordinate care for patients with IBD
    -Assist with screening patient conditions and needs.
    -Educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
    -Act as a resource for patients, families, nursing staff and other health care professionals in area of expertise.
    -Set treatment plans and prescribe appropriate actions to meet the plans within the established protocols, such as:
    -Ensure adherence to immunosuppressive medication
    -Improve follow up on adjusting therapy ordered by IBD providers
    -Allow better monitoring of drug levels and health maintenance specifically related to immunosuppressed IBD patients
    -Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plan accordingly, in line with IBD provider recommendations

This 29-month (7 semester) program currently admits 20 students per cohort at the UMKC Health Sciences District campus and proposes to admit up to 20 students per cohort at the MU location.     Job Description

    The experienced clinician/educator will be instrumental in launching our distant campus location and mentor the next generation of PAs in a supportive and collaborative academic environment. The faculty member will be involved in all facets of delivering a rigorous curriculum. Faculty will teach and direct courses in the didactic and clinical phases of the program, collaborate with dedicated faculty to implement an array of teaching and evaluation strategies, and build on existing relationships with clinical partners. Additional duties include student academic and professional development advising; participation in student admissions activities; participation in the program's ongoing self-study, accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement processes; and involvement in university service activities.

    Qualifications

    Minimum requirements for this position include graduation from an accredited PA program, hold or working toward a Master's degree, eligibility for Missouri PA licensure, and current NCCPA-certification. Previous teaching experience is desirable. The candidate should be highly motivated and organized as well as possess excellent communication skills.

    Anticipated Hiring Range

    Salary range is commensurate with rank, credentials, demonstrated success in education, and experience. There is opportunity for a clinical release arrangement.

    This is a 12-month, ranked faculty appointment eligible for promotion. Our academic schedules and workload promote a positive work/life balance.
