    Under supervision of the Practice Manager, Rehab Supervisor and licensed therapists, the Rehab Aide, (Hospital Assistant 2) assists in the delivery of care to patients being seen in the practice, including direct and indirect support. Work includes a variety of personal care and basic clinical procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. They will perform assigned patient care and review of systems data collection in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices, including physical therapy, Occupational therapy, and Speech-language pathology practice. They are required to learn and be able to assist in procedures. They are required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by UCSF.

    The Rehabilitative aide actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, inservices and staff development activities.

    The salary range for this position is $35.92 - $35.92 (Hourly Rate).

    2. Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomology and life threatening medical problems.

    3. Ability to administer CPR.

    4. Ability to skillfully administer oral, IM and subcutaneous medications.

    5. Ability to perform venipuncture with skill, adhering to all OSHA PPE safety requirements.

    6. Ability to obtain accurate vital signs and drug refills.

    7. Ability to assist in medical emergencies and office procedures.

    8. Ability to use computerized patient care systems.

    9. Knowledge of medical terminology.

    Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the Physical Therapist, incumbents independently initiate and perform patient treatments using various procedures, modalities and instructions. In addition, will perform related patient care activities such as removing & reapplying dressings, providing transportation, providing patient education, completing daily progress notes, and ensuring accurate charge entry. Prepares schedules for patients' treatment, and cleans and disinfects equipment as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. If assigned to work with infants and children aged 0 to 21, CCS paneling/approval will be required within one year of hire if qualify for CCS paneling requirement. Attends discharge planning meetings for children with discharge needs applicable to the discipline. Assures that the non CCS paneled therapists/ therapy assts and Rehab Techs will be supervised by a CCS paneled therapist for the care provided to children aged 0-21. Participates in care coordination activities when children are being discharged with therapy and coordinates the transfer of care to the CCS Medical Therapy Units in the school system as appropriate.

    Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Must possess current valid Physical Therapy Assistant License. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Minimum of two years experience and the ability to treat 3 or more types of patient conditions (CVA, SCI, TBI, Peds, Ortho, burns, hand etc.). Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization.
