    Position Summary

    The Resource Teacher (Library & Media) serves students in Kindergarten through 8th grade by providing instruction and engagement through library services, digital literacy, and computer-based learning. This role supports student growth by fostering a love for reading, developing research and technology skills, and creating a Christ-centered environment where students learn to use their knowledge and gifts to glorify God.

    Key Responsibilities

    Library & Literacy Engagement

    Manage and maintain the school library, including organization, circulation, and inventory of materialsPromote a love of reading through book talks, reading programs, and classroom library visitsAssist students in selecting age-appropriate and engaging reading materialsSupport literacy development across all grade levels

    Media & Technology Instruction

    Provide developmentally appropriate instruction in computer skills and digital literacy for K–8 studentsTeach foundational to intermediate skills such as typing, research, online safety, and basic applicationsGuide students in responsible and ethical use of technologySupport classroom teachers with technology integration

    Student Engagement & Instruction

    Create structured, engaging lessons during scheduled library and media timesEncourage curiosity, independent learning, and critical thinkingAdapt instruction to meet a wide range of developmental levels

    Program Development

    Requirements:

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Education, Library Science, Technology, or related field (preferred)Experience working with elementary and/or middle school studentsStrong understanding of literacy development and basic educational technologyExcellent organizational and classroom management skillsA personal and growing relationship with Jesus ChristAgreement with the mission and values of University Christian School

    Preferred Qualifications

    Key Responsibilities


    Academic Leadership & Program Development


    * Provide leadership and strategic direction for academic programs, curriculum development, and instructional practices.

    * Collaborate with the Head of School and leadership team to evaluate, strengthen, and expand academic initiatives.

    * Ensure curriculum alignment with state standards, accreditation requirements, and University Christian School’s educational philosophy.

    * Lead academic planning that supports student growth, college readiness, and lifelong learning.


    Curriculum & Instruction


    * Oversee curriculum review, alignment, and implementation across all grade levels.

    * Support faculty in the development of engaging, rigorous, and developmentally appropriate instruction.

    * Promote best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment.

    * Encourage the integration of faith and learning in all academic disciplines.


    Faculty Support & Professional Development


    * Partner with school leaders to support, mentor, and evaluate faculty in instructional effectiveness.

    Student Achievement & Assessment


    * Analyze academic data to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.

    * Support intervention strategies and enrichment opportunities to meet diverse student needs.

    * Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to promote academic success for all students.


    Accreditation & Compliance


    * Support accreditation processes and ensure compliance with academic standards and policies.

    * Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of academic policies and procedures.


    Family & Community Engagement


    * Communicate academic vision, goals, and initiatives clearly to families and stakeholders.

    * Serve as a resource for parents regarding curriculum, academic programs, and student progress.

    * Collaborate with admissions and advancement teams as needed to support student recruitment and retention.



    Requirements:

    Qualifications


    Required


    Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, including instructional leadership or administrative experience.

    Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and academic assessment.

    Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

    A clear commitment to Christian education and alignment with University Christian School’s mission and values.


    Preferred


    Master’s degree or higher in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.

    Experience in a Christian school or faith-based educational environment.
