POSITION SUMMARY
The EHS Manager will serve as the facility's primary safety and environmental leader, owning all EHS programs from policy development through day-to-day execution and continuous improvement. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Program Leadership
• Own and manage all EHS programs including OSHA 29 CFR 1910 compliance, LOTO, confined space, hot work, machine guarding, ergonomics, hearing conservation, and emergency response
• Conduct regular floor audits, hazard assessments, and job safety analyses (JSAs) across forging, heat treat, and support operations
• Lead incident investigations including near misses, first aids, and recordable injuries — drive thorough root cause analysis and corrective action closure
• Manage OSHA 300 recordkeeping, reporting, and submission requirements accurately and on time
• Develop, deliver, and track all required EHS training programs for new hires and existing employees
• Coordinate and lead emergency response planning and drills
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state (NCDEQ), and local environmental regulations including air permits, wastewater discharge, hazardous waste, and stormwater (SWPPP)
• Prepare and submit all required environmental reports including Tier II, TRI, and permit compliance documentation
• Manage hazardous materials and chemical inventory programs including SDS management and hazard communication
• Coordinate environmental audits and inspections; develop and implement corrective actions as needed
Safety Culture & Continuous Improvement
• Build and sustain a strong, proactive safety culture by engaging employees, supervisors, and leadership at all levels
• Implement and lead behavior-based safety (BBS) or similar employee engagement programs
• Track and analyze EHS KPIs — TRIR, DART, near miss frequency, training completion — and report regularly to plant leadership
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives targeting injury reduction, ergonomic improvements, and hazard elimination
• Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering on capital projects and process changes to ensure EHS requirements are integrated from the start
Contractor & Program Management
• Manage contractor safety program including prequalification, orientation, and on-site safety compliance
• Coordinate with insurance carriers and workers' compensation partners on claims management and return-to-work programs
• Maintain all EHS documentation, permits, licenses, and program records in an audit-ready state
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• 5+ years of EHS experience in a heavy manufacturing environment — forging, foundry, stamping, casting, or comparable high-hazard industrial operation strongly preferred
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry standards
• Demonstrated experience managing environmental compliance programs (air, water, waste, SWPPP)
• Proven track record of reducing recordable injuries and building safety culture on the production floor
• Experience leading incident investigations and driving root cause corrective actions to closure
• Hands-on, floor-present leadership style — this is not a desk role
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field — significant industry experience considered in lieu of degree
Preferred
• Direct forging, foundry, or high-temperature metals manufacturing EHS experience
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or CHMM certification
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification

Pay: Starting rate of $32.96-$40/hr. Night shift will receive an additional $2/hr for night shift differential.
Shift hours: 5p-3a and 7p-5a. Yes on overtime. They work 5 10's each week and do weekend rotations so if they had to work a weekend, they would get days off during the week.

Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems to equipment.
