    POSITION TITLE:  Food Service Assistant

    REPORTS TO: Food Service Director and/or the Food Service Coordinator

    SUPERVISES: N/A

    LOCATION: 18555 NW Rock Creek Blvd Portland OR 97229 or 3 NW 3rd Ave Portland OR 97209

    STATUS:  Part-time, 30 hours per week

    WAGE: $18 per hour

     

    OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION:         

    The Food Service Assistant supports the Food Service Director (FSD) or Food Service Coordinator (FSC) with daily kitchen operations at Angela’s House or the Old Town location. Responsibilities include meal preparation and service, stocking and organizing supplies, training residents, and working with volunteers. The Food Service Assistant also helps with special meals and events.

     

    AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    Prep and assist lead cook.Teach and encourage teamwork.Establish & oversee kitchen cleanliness according to Oregon Health Dept regulations.Assist FSD/ FSC with all food related events.Work with volunteers when and where applicable.Work closely with the other departments to ensure all food needs and services operate with organization and food safety.Maintain kitchen equipment, report any issues to FSD or FSC.Assist FSC with grocery re-stocking and/or donations when they arrive.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Ability to support daily kitchen operations in accordance with site guidelines and established procedures.Knowledge of proper kitchen procedures, including food preparation, sanitation, and safe equipment use.Ability to train and mentor residents in kitchen operations, food safety, and basic cooking skills.Working knowledge of proper knife handling, cooking techniques, and food safety standards.Understanding of and ability to follow Oregon Health Department regulations and food service compliance requirements.Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive working relationships with staff, residents, and volunteers.Ability to assist with food-related events, including menu preparation, setup, service, and cleanup.Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and organization of food storage areas.Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.

     

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    A criminal history and background check are required and must be successfully completed.Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks as assigned.Ability to walk up and down steps.Obtain a food handlers card within 30 days of being hired.Oregon driver’s license preferred, but not necessary.

    POSITION TITLE: Women’s LifeChange Recovery Coordinator 

    REPORTS TO: Senior Recovery Manager

    SUPERVISES: N/A

    LOCATION: Angela’s House – 18555 NW Rock Creek Blvd., Portland, OR 97229

    STATUS: Full-Time Exempt; 4 x 10-hour shifts, Wednesday - Saturday 1pm - 11pm; Some work will be required on occasional evenings/weekends at special events and holidays.

    WAGE: $42,000 - $47,000 annually (based on experience) plus benefits

    OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    The Recovery Coordinator provides comprehensive care management and transitional resourcing for the Women’s LifeChange (WLC) residents, working collaboratively with a team of staff, volunteers and WLC residents in a robust and wholistic recovery program coaching them in healthy godly living; cultivating a healing recovery environment; and effectively working with all other UGM teams and community partners.

    AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    Assess the legal, financial, parenting, healthcare, etc. needs of residents and develop a recovery care plan for each resident assigned to your caseloadCommunicate clearly and effectively with the staff about resident issues and needsManage and resolve conflict with staff and/or residentsMeet weekly with each resident on your caseload to review recovery goals, assess progress, and hold them accountable to program responsibilitiesDocument resident recovery goals, obstacles, and progress (i.e., SOAP notes)Provide grace-based accountability and cultivate a healing and trauma-informed environmentCoach residents in work therapy and communicate program responsibilitiesDevelop a network of community and transitional resources and refer WLC residents appropriatelyResponsible for operating vehicles to transport residents and materials to and from specified destinationsCultivate a healing environment at WLC, where grace can flow freely with a safe & clean facilityMaintain confidential WLC program communications and resident documentationAttend WLC and All-Staff meetings and trainingsConduct regular and random urinalyses, breathalyzer tests, and room checksCoach and facilitate Genesis Process Relapse Prevention with residentsAttend weekly meetings with the team of Recovery CoordinatorsTeach/Facilitate LifeChange program groups/classesAssign resident rooms, work therapy, and laundrySchedule residents’ weekly laundry times and care coordination sessionsCoordinate LifeChange resident transition to AfterCare with the AfterCare DirectorAssist with any other job-related duties as assigned by the Senior Recovery Manager

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    BA/BS degree or equivalent years of experience required. MSW degree is preferred.Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.Previous gospel/rescue mission experience or equivalent is preferredAt least one year of peer mentorship or case management experience is preferredExcellent interpersonal training, administrative and networking skills requiredAbility to speak directly and lovingly confront personal issues is requiredExcellent computer, written and verbal communication skills requiredAbility to work in cooperation with other UGM departments and staff (team player)Caring heart for homeless, addicted, and abused women and childrenStrong love for the Lord along with strong integrity and characterAgreement with Union Gospel Mission’s Statement of Faith and active involvement with a local Christian church community

    POSITION TITLE: Shower Ministry Coordinator

    REPORTS TO: Senior Director Old Town Programs

    LOCATION: Five Portland locations: 3 NW Third Ave, 9715 SE Powell Blvd, 1302 SE Ankeny Street; 6948 SW Capitol Hwy; 5325 N. Williams Avenue

    STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt, 30 hours per week

    WAGE: $20.00 per hour with a $500 hiring bonus (after 800 hours worked)

     

    OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION:         

    Union Gospel Mission has a 90-year history of helping people experiencing homelessness in Portland. Our purpose is feeding the hungry, restoring the addict and loving our neighbor. Our highest values are to connect and coach people experiencing homelessness to abundant life in Christ through direct life essential assistance and a path to sustainable work, housing, and a God-honoring life in partnership with churches and other organizations.

     

    AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    Drive a UGM vehicle and tow the UGM shower trailer.Manage shower check-in list (20 minutes per person, calling on individuals who are next in line).Speak with compassion and respect to all guests; remind guests of guidelines that need to be followed in order to keep shower privileges.Set up and tear down shower trailer (connect/disconnect pipe to clean out, connect/disconnect hose to water supply)Distribute towels; clean out shower stalls after each use; monitor shower pump; inform Homeless Outreach Coordinator of any maintenance issues.Oversee volunteers.Refer guests to Homeless Outreach Director and Coordinator who express a desire to enter LifeChange recovery and/or other services.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Committed Christ-follower.Champion for compassionate short and long-term spiritual, physical and emotional care.Valid driver’s license with a clean record - experience towing trailers or large vehicles.Warm yet professional demeanor.De-escalation skills.Comfortable working with a wide diversity of stakeholders including volunteers and the LifeChange recovery community.Able to deal with tense interactions with skill and diplomacy.Experience maintaining equipment.Able to quickly problem-solve; creative, and a self-starter.Proven ability to collaborate with a team. Involvement in Christ-centered direct ministry relief and development work.Exposure and involvement with a wide variety of Christ followers.
