    Position Overview

    Understood Care is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Contracting, Credentialing & Billing Specialist to support our provider operations. This role is critical in ensuring providers are properly contracted, credentialed, and reimbursed in a timely and accurate manner. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple workflows simultaneously.

    Key Responsibilities

    Contracting & Credentialing

    Manage end-to-end provider contracting and credentialing processesPrepare, submit, and track credentialing applications with payersMaintain accurate and up-to-date provider records and documentationMonitor credentialing timelines and proactively follow up with payersSupport re-credentialing and ongoing compliance requirements

    Billing Support

    Assist with billing setup for newly credentialed providersSupport claim submission, tracking, and follow-up as neededIdentify and help resolve basic billing issues or discrepanciesCoordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate provider data

    Administrative & Compliance Support

    Maintain organized documentation in internal systemsEnsure compliance with payer, state, and organizational requirementsCommunicate effectively with internal teams and external partnersQualifications2–5 years of experience in healthcare contracting, credentialing, licensing and billingFamiliarity with payer portals and credentialing processesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with healthcare administration systems is a plusWhat We OfferFull-time W-2 employmentCompetitive hourly pay ($20–$25/hour)Collaborative and supportive team environmentOpportunity to grow within a mission-driven healthcare organization

This role will focus primarily on billing operations, claims follow-up, and collections to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and experienced in managing billing workflows and resolving outstanding balances efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities

    Billing & Claims Management

    Submit and track claims accurately and in a timely manner

    Monitor claim status and proactively follow up on unpaid or denied claims

    Identify billing discrepancies and support resolution efforts

    Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with payer requirements

    Collections & Reimbursement

    Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances

    Communicate with payers regarding claim status and payment issues

    Support reconciliation of payments and remittance posting

    Track and report on billing and collections progress as needed

    Administrative Support

    Maintain organized billing records and documentation

    Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate provider and patient data

    Support process improvements to strengthen billing workflows

    Qualifications

    2–5 years of experience in healthcare billing and collections

    Familiarity with payer portals and claims management processes

    Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

    Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Experience with healthcare administration systems is a plus
